Flamenco in Jerez

I was three months in Jerez within the past few years yet saw very little flamenco over there. Any suggestions on where to find some flamenco? Something like Peñas with open doors or concerts. Just to listen, without the requirement to have a gitano friend

I'm here at the mo.

You just missed La Macanita with Manuel Valencia last night.....

Tabanco Cruz Vieja and just down the road another called Rincon of somethingorother. both seem to have events several times a day.

El Pasaje usually has stuff going on but is also usually very noisy....

Quick thought - there are a few of us here this week? We -might- (emphasis might) be able to get Manuel Valencia to do a small group class? Bit outside my budget on-on-one.

No Flamenco in Jerez???
Like Henry said, Tabanco el pasaje was great when I was there, then the bar across the alley would usually host the after party. It was festival time though. Did you poke around barrio Santiago?
Does guarida del angel only have Flamenco during festival? Saw the best shows of my life there. 15 euros for Diego del Morao and Potito.

Depend of the period of the year .
In the last month Good carteles in tio jose de Paula and buena gente. Free but horrible for enter , except if you like wait long time ... yesterday for curiosity i Walk to santiago and for sure i cant see the macana. Doesent matter. If you dont search flamenco, flamenco come to you.
Better a juerga. During the zambomba you can see maybegood juerga . For exemple the zambomba of plazuela.

In the week-end there are few things in the peñas not necesseraly in center
You can go al pasaje, cruz vieja, rincon del arte, tabanco feria and other tonterias place. ..

For me doesent matter this place, but if you are here just few week and you want absolutely watch flamenco why not.

any idea when peñas flamencas have gatherings most often? I would assume saturday por la tarde? I am looking to find aficionados who get together and take turns singing and playing. I am not so much into the restaurant shows.
