dings on the lower edge of neck

Unfortunately, my axe fell off my stand, creating a few dings around the 3rd fret. I can feel them when I play around that area, or more specifically slide my finger or palm over there, and it's distracting. Is there a remedy for this?

I hear good things about Bondo and duct tape.

Are they too deep to sand down and refinish?

You can sort of see the indentations there. The worst one is maybe less than a business card in depth. But it is annoying.

They can be steamed out. Wet the corner of a rag, or a few layers of rag, and apply it to a ding. Plug in a clothes iron and get it hot. Apply the tip of the iron to the ding through the wet rag.

What happens will depend on the finish. If it is varnish or lacquer, you may need to take a sharp pointed knife or a needle and poke little holes in the finish at the ding so the steam can get through. Shellac will probably just melt away.

Touch up the finish as needed. Maybe lightly sand first with very fine grit (400).

I do the same thing Ethan describes, but I use a soldering iron tip so the steam area can be directed to one spot

If steaming doesn't work (common) you can drop fill with an appropriate finish or cyanoacrylate (super glue). Here's a link to a good product if you feel like taking the plunge into repair work .

I kind of botched replacing the tuning machines (didn't screw them in great, it's a bit ugly) so I probably won't be attempting this one on my own!
