12 is played, not quietly but same dynamic as 4,5,6. & is loud, 2 is not played, 3 is loud. The other pattern 12 and 6 are also played, but 1, 3 are loud. IF you count to 12 than you must include the same for 7,9 being loud, and the contra pattern is doing 6, & between 7-8, and 9 are loud as well. Jeez that all sounds more confusing than it really is. You basically accident the up beat except not so strong an accent on 5 or 11 as you might think. In fact a lot of folks that feel this instinctively accent 5 and 11 but I don't like it when I am playing. Ricardo
