Congrats on finding happiness Todd!!

I've always used bed time / siesta time as an excuse to play guitar for my kids. I did that since they were 1 day old. Now my daughter's becoming a teenager, but she still requests guitar at bed time

Well there's no price for happiness.

Nice one Todd, wasn't that long ago I was taking my son round the corner to our rocky beach just like the one in your pics. These days its tough getting him off computer games.

They grow up quickly, don't sell your guitars just yet ;-)

You could just teach your kids how to play and be a tyrannical helicoptering dad and make them be little Paco's.

Just kidding, lovely children. have fun with them.

I'm so happy to see you have lots of kids books. I used to read books to my younger siblings and my cousins, I'm the eldest of my generation by five years. When the sibs and cousins came along I could already read so I liked reading to them. My last listener was my cousin Laura Simone born in 1989, I was in my late 20's by then. I read Stella Luna to her about 500 times. I could never get enough.

Books are fantastic for development. My mom read to me from the time I was 2 and look how I turned out. I ARE a Gituerarter MAcker.

I have another friend who spent a lot lot of time pre kids playing flamenco, now his first kid is in her first year of college and the second is a junior in high school. Guess what he is doing right now? He is on tour with Luis de la Tota as his guitarist. I remember when kid #2 was 9 years old and my buddy was not practicing too much, he was busy with school plays and driving Miss Daisy to where ever. But gradually as the children, and they are gifted lovely kids, matriculated through school he began to pick up gigs. He is playing almost full time now outside of family stuff.

So when they are teenagers they will find you a social liability and will distance themselves from you. Then you'll have your guitar to go to for solace. Right now while they want to use you as a human jungle gym, it's best to play along. Ole' Tu.

Yes, we have MILLIONS of books, and we have read to them every day
since day one. It is said to be make a huge difference developmentally.
My 2 year old has a huge vocabulary already.

I try to read them all different kinds of stuff, but they have their favorites,
and love doing them over and over and over. :)

Day is the boy in the picture with me on the rocks at the beach.

Can you believe he is only 2 years old?? He's a giant!

When i play the guitar around him, he immediately tells me to put it away. LOL
And ironically, it doesnt bother me. i am not concerned about him being a musician. I just want him to be happy.

Yes, we have MILLIONS of books

Are Julia Donaldson's books popular in the States? She was my favourite author for young kids books before they progressed to David Walliams & Harry Potter. The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child, Tabby McTat, Room On The Broom are just some of her classics. There was a time I could recite large quantities of her work by heart, which was always useful on long car journeys.

It's time to tie his leg to the chair and force him to practice picado with metronome all day. Once school starts, it's all over.

My boys have weird taste in 80's horror sci fi .... Classic books such as this are essential bedtime reading:

HA hahahaha :)

We're gonna be home schooling them, so.... I'll probably have a good few minutes
of practice per week LOL
