Never could get into the SG much. The thin body just felt wonky to me.

I'm pretty sure she drank a couple beers after this set.

Awesome! She would have sounded great with any guitar! Pure soul!

Yes, yes! Sister Rosetta could make that SG stand up and talk.

I gave my son an SG Special for his 16th birthday. I saw an ad in the paper, bought it for a very good price. Guy said he needed money for the rent. Either that, or it was stolen.

It has the clear finish over red stain. You can see the mahogany wood grain on the top.

In less than a year he was sitting in with bands on sixth street in Austin.

When he was 20 Joe Satriani told him he could make it in the West Coast studio scene, but he told me he didn't want to be a professional musician.

Now he has a couple of Strats with custom pickups and a Les Paul that looked stock the last time I saw it. Still has the SG.

His day job is in the IT field, making good money.

He writes for a band with three other people, they get enough gigs to keep going. I asked him what he played. He said, "Lead, rhythm, bass, drums."

To a slightly raised eyebrow he replied, "We kind of switch around. Keeps us from getting bored."

A couple of months ago he told me, "I finally bought a nylon string. I use it backing up this singer who's a friend of mine. We write a few songs together. I like her harmony. The nylon string goes better with it than an electric--and it kind of reminds me of hearing you playing downstairs after bedtime when I was four or five years old."

The other one that can make an SG sing is Derek Trucks.

To me he always sounded average... How about Robby Krieger or Angus Young?

To each his own . I think he is more soulful and has more musicality and breadth (blues, r&b, jazz, Indian music, etc).

Yes I was kinda angling at Sister Tharpe, the SG goes along for the ride.

She had a routine she did on the Baptist church and chicken basket soul circuit, but I have a feeling she preached lightly on stage and partied heavy all night.

This is a clean train, she sings. It's like hearing a flamenco singer, only I can fully understand the words.

Now is kind of bothers me she is not recognized as a pre rock singer performer as much as she should be.
