Picado exercise

Here is a scale pattern that I took from Rafael. I'm playing it at turtle speed compared to Rafael's 186,000 notes per second clip.... Time to seriously practice...

Rafa is a monster, dude. I don't think it's fair for someone to compare their picado to his. I think even Javier Conde doesn't get close when it comes to the combination of both speed and POWER that Rafa has. But I know Rafa's secret. I actually asked him, and he told me once. You know what it is? Jamon Serrano.

I used to practice this. Didn't quite make it to this speed. I have a strong suspicion that he always drags a finger across 2 strings. This works beautifully for this run. If he doesn't, he's not from this planet.

Fair enough Ramzi! He really is from another world. Well at least I could keep up with him on that buleria run that I posted at the Swap Shop. I thought I wasn't going to pull that one off quite frankly. I'm gonna try that Jamon Serrano then give this run another go... I have to get faster!!!

I think you are right Grisha... I've been dragging one of my fingers across strings and the results are quite good I have to say. You can play it much faster by doing just that. But D..mn! The power he generates is crazy.

Yes, man... that is the KEY to his sound. Some people can reach his speed, but I have NEVER so far heard anyone match that power. Dare I say even PdL?

If Serrano stands for "from the sierra", that would mean the same. The "porco ibérico" is also called "porco da serra".

Every year I have one of those legs held on a wooden frame. It even comes with a knife and a blade sharpener... weight is around 7kg and lasts months.

But I hate that crap

This one here isn't much less than that, it's good quality stuff from a specialized farm. Even the wood that the frame is made of is a good chunk of solid wood (cedar I think).

I hate jamon but this one I can stand the smell. Supermarket grade jamon is horrible, it's like stinky rubbery plastic.

Who's feelings? Mine? Nah man. I'm very happy with my picado speed and tone. I'm just messing around quite frankly. I can go faster than my video posted.

It's all fun Grisha... W Rafa I don't hear dragging it will sound different .... I just don't get the above sentiments personally .... Guy don't sound like more than the typical Paco disciple to me

Ok, , getting closer to Rafa's speed but clearly lack the power on this run when I drag... hmmmm... Ricardo might be on to something? This guy could be from another galaxy.. I'm still aiming for the power on this run.... Back to practicing...
