Wenge wood for bridge?

Hi guys I'm still working on my first guitar (so bored) and i made a bridge of wenge.
I am afraid that it might be broken under strings tension.

wenge is pretty strong and dense and i would imagine should be ok for a bridge. some factory guitars use wenge in place of ebony (esteve use to use it and may still use it). the big issue with wenge is the dust--nasty stuff. check out this article and the reference to fish.

Yes it is stiff and I'm using it for the fret board also but its problem that is consists of layers of 2 different kinds of wood (dark brown and light brown), and this may weaken the wood.

I made one Wenge bridge, it works well, but wenge can be splintery and it makes it difficult to cut and chisel it, but it scrapes well. Put a sturdy tie block cover on it and consider pore filling with CA glue.

The one bridge came out of a batch of bridge blanks I made and three or four of them were wenge. I made the one and decided it was too much trouble to baby the corners and thinner parts as you work on it, they chip and fray and splinter....so I never made another.

Which I why I mention pore filling with CA glue. Wenge has huge pores and as you are working it if it spinters you can glue it back together with CA glue and keep working. But the CA glue blocks the finish in spots and gives a different look to the wood. So in keeping all things the same pore fill with CA.

Tell me how it goes if you do it.

Wenge is pretty common for fingerboards in the bass side of things, eg Warwick have been using for about 20 odd years I think.

Has anyone ever used Wenge to make a negra? I've played a few steel strings with it and they've been superb. I have a hunch it'd make as a good as EIR.

I didn´t play a negra of wengé but a classcal guitar. The sound in the basses was more round like it is way to Rio rosewood, but not that much. I could compare
this to the rosewood version of this model, but I can´t decide if the sound would be transmitted as well as these were flamcas.

You might want to cut the front of the tie block at a 90 degree angle. But looks like a good start.
