Toddk's hybrid picking demo video

Bit of a long shot this but anyhow...

About 8 or 9 years ago Todd put together a demo video illustrating the technique that he (then) used to play flamenco, it was posted here and on other guitar forums. He showed how he approached everything, from tremolo through to 'pickado' to the divets cut into his pick to mimic pulgar clicks.

Did anyone here download it? If so please PM me, thanks.

Discussions are still here but the video is no longer available here, nor on the links from other guitar forums - seems Todd took it down. There are still two vids of Todd using the technique on his Youtube channel but the explanation vid is not there.

I did not get that comment. For your information, my right hand has an injury that makes me think about the future. I am just looking for possible ways to continue playing should I lose my current technique.

Hi Grisha

They are talking about Fender Telecasters. Hybrid picking is well known for its association with country styles ('chicken picking') and the Telecaster is often the guitar of choice for these players, for its distinctive clean bright tone. I know Todd is a big fan of Danny Gatton - an expert in this style.

Really sorry to hear about your hand and I can fully understand your wish to keep all options open.

Hey Grisha I meant no disrespect, I have so much for you.

Todd has had his problems with his hands and triumphed as I am sure you will. He will have great advice.

Blondie is right, lots of us have admiration for the great country players, I thought maybe you had caught the bug.

Maybe this might offer some inspiration for you. Scotty Anderson shows what can be done with a flatpick and a FLAT WRIST (check out the double stop scales in sixteenth notes !!!!). The great thing about a Telecaster or other electric guitar is that you can play standing up or walking around which is very therapeutic.

Try not to worry too much (easy to say I know) about the future, our beliefs can make a cage for us.

I do that during most of sessions.
And I have tried to introduce the benfits of upright playing, and better even with centered suspension to the nylon communities.
However, the flamenco guys and more even the classicals ( "naturally", you could say ) would hardly care enough to even respond.

It was your technique that made me of the first heads who once started pointing out you for the ( classical) guitar community.
I don´t know how you execute today, but years ago I thought your technique to have been about perfect.

Now hearing of your injury, without wanting to sound smart assing or overzealous, of the several ideas coming up about eventual causes and useful ways to smooth things out, I would like to reduce it to a short essence:

If the injury is based on muscular or neuronal matter, try to highlight any superfluous contraction and to shut it down.
I know, sounds just too ordinary, but such can be life.
( There seem to have been many cases, where extremely good players after peak devolved into needless and bad habits which then introduced antagone exercise, hence blockade.)

I wish you full recovery and a playing as seamless and delightful as it gets.
I need you as inspiration after all.

Todd.. would you be able to share the video here so I can see it too?

Grisha.. sorry to hear about your injury.. I totally understand it. I am nowhere even close to where you are technically.. but I haven't been able to play the guitar properly for 2.5 year because of an uncontrollable i finger. I can only try to imagine how it must feel for a person of your skill level to have an injury and thinking it might lose your techniques..

I'm not sure what your injury is.. I haven't seen anyone up to about 6 months ago and I have been having acupuncture which has helped alot but still hasn't healed me..
