Here is a very nice edition. Its a CD and booklet that was sold with the national
Newspaper "El Pais" as number 2 in the series "Joyas del Flamenco" (flamenco gems)
The Compilation of 14 tracks spanning Pacos career range from the late 60s to the early 80s.
Best of all is the 60 page hard-backed booklet that comes packed full of rare photos and biography.

Its nearly 2 years since Paco passed away and over 150 extra items later....I am still trying to conclude this thread

Here is another unlisted LP. Its another Japanese Edition of Recital de Guitarra. It appears to be a re-issue from 1980
and has a different cover.

For anyone who is curious the LPs alone (no CDs or 7 inch discs) look like this.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

Now another unlisted track. I have found a new Bulerias that I am sure has not been talked about.
It comes from a curious CD produced by Javier Limón with 27 invited artists such as Gerry Gonzalez, Buika, Niño Josele,
Paco de lucia and band, Potito, Duquende among others. The inside cover has photos of these artists either holding or eating lemons

All tracks are unique to this album and track 3 is an instrumental Bulerias called "la Perla" with Paco and Niño Josele on Guitar, Piraña and Ramon porrina on percussion,
Antonio Serrano on Harmonica and Jose Reinoso on Piano. I have never heard this track before and I cant find it on youtube. Perhaps it is on Spotify??

It is undated but it must come from the 70s. 14 tracks from the early 70s with Ramon on 2cd guitar.

The tracks Punta del Faro, Rio ancho and Sevillanas Populares appear on this edition.
Traum Urlaub in Spanien is a Philips compilation of Spanish tracks with Mantilla de Feria and

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

We already listed the album "Noche Andaluza" by the band Alameda as a recording where Paco features on one track.
I found a copy of the record at a book fair over the weekend. Paco plays on the track "Por los Espacios del tiempo".
Curiously the only mention of him in the sleeve notes is the name Paco under Guitar solo. The picado run at the end (4.09)
could only be Paco de lucia but I found it funny that they didn't need to mention any more of his name. Maybe it was to get around recording company problems? Paco starts playing about 3.00 minutes into the track.

Here is another edition of Friday night in San Francisco with a different cover sleeve.
This issue is from Germany and is a re-issue under the Amiga label. The disc is undated
but I think the sleeve notes were written in 1982.

Not at all unlikely: remember George Harrison as “L’Angelo Misterioso” on Badge?

(Not to mention Mario’s recording a substantial chunk of his output as El Niño de Alicante.)

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Paul Magnussen

Tracking down recordings with the artists on the credits is one thing. Tracking them down with no credits or aliases is another.
I already found 2 CDs with Alejandro Sanz but it is rumoured that Paco did appear on other Alejandro Sanz tracks uncredited.

Staying on the subject of uncredited tracks I came across a bit of a mystery. I was checking the Wikipedia discography of Paco de Lucia and I saw a reference to a recording that is not on our discography

"Una Noche en Torres Bermejas (1972, but recorded in 1969), Philips 63 28 033), live with Camarón and Pepa de Utrera."

I tracked down a copy of this album on the internet. It was extremely hard to find. The album is very good live flamenco album
and the artists are great. The cover notes do not mention any of the guitarists though and it looks like Paco Cepero on the front cover. The artists are Camaron de la Isla, Jarrito, La paquera de Jerez, El Chaleco, Alvaro de la Isla, Fosforito, Bambino and Pepa de Utrera.
We know that Paco recorded with Camaron, Jarrito, Fosforito, Alvaro de la Isla and Bambino. It is documented that he played on stage with Pepa de Utrera but this is the first possible recording I have found.
Tracks 1 and 8 are "Que un torito bravo en su muerte" and "Si acaso muero" by Camaron de la Isla. Both these tracks are on the very first album by Camaron and Paco from 1969. Since this recording is also from 1969 its almost certain that Paco is the guitarist in this recording. He is very possibly playing on other tracks too but I wouldn't like to say for certain if he is accompanying Pepa de Utrera.
Its another collaboration to investigate. Meanwhile I feel confident enough to include this recording into our discography.

Here are 2 more Compilation LPs with Paco tracks.
The first is from 1976 "Los super 20", a double album of 20 tracks. It contains The tracks Almoraima and Entre Dos Aguas.
The second Compilation is from 1986 produced for Greenpeace - Salvemos el Mediterraneo (saving the Mediterranean).
It also contain Entre dos Aguas. ....no wonder its the only Paco track that the average member of the public can name.

The Fiesta Flamenco Gitano 1 also miss credits PDL as playing for Camaron, when it is clearly Cepero. I would assume the same here...if you could kindly upload the tracks you think PDL is playing on it would be great!

EDIT: It's definately PDL playing, can't believe I missed this historical recording!

PS If anyone can get the 2006 CD of this recording...please upload the sleeve notes on the tracks.

Here is another compilation LP designed to test out your new Philips stereo System.
Judging by the stereo equipment this album was produced in the late 70s, probably 1977.
Spectra in sound is a 16 track LP with different tracks from Classical quartet,
symphony orchestra, a capella voice, church organ , opera etc. designed to highlight
the different strengths in the frequency Spectrum of your stereo system.
Track 6. Almoraima is described thus " The high level at 200Hz is determined to a great
extent by the fierce attack of the solo guitar..."

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

Another rare Japanese compilation album now.
This edition has a very expensive looking gatefold cover which is unfortunately
let down by the title "Flamenco Guiter" in gold letters.
I'm still undecided if they were going for "Gutter" or "Quitter".

They redeem themselves with "flamenco guitar" inside the gatefold and on the disc though.
The album has 14 tracks by Paco and Ramon from the late 60s and early 70s.
Its undated but I'm guessing it comes from around 1975. This disc has its original
colour paper disc sleeve.

The 1982 LP "Touchstone" by Chick Corea was already on our list too.
However, I never heard the tracks for this album before.
Paco plays on the opening track "Touchstone" and on track 2. The Yellow Nimbus.
The album is very 80s and Paco is definitely playing quite experimentally on these tracks.

I have been making some headway with cataloguing Pacos discography on Audio Cassette too.
The studio albums all have the same content. There are some compilations on Audio Cassette that
have not appeared in vinyl or CD format. I have not found any material on Cassette that does not appear
in another format though. I will attempt to list these cassette versions a bit later in the year.

Interesting to note the intro for "Duende" on that album is where Paco got the theme for Cancion de Amor.

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Ricardo

Here is a good example of how frustrating this research can be.
I accidentally found another album with Manolo De Vega and Paco de Lucia.
This album has 12 tracks and from the back credits you would think they are all being accompanied
by Paco. No other guitarists are credited on this album.
I checked the 2 EPs that we have listed and 5 of the album tracks come from our EPs.
That means there are 7 more tracks to list and at least 2 more EPs.

Manolo De Vega - acompañado a la guitarra por Paco de Lucia LP 1977 EMI/REGAL 10 C 038-21420

Three of the remaining tracks appear on another EP. EMI/REGAL J-016 20.142
El Rosario de mi Madre, En la mina de los mineros and En memoria de Pastora Pavan.
I found a reference to these tracks online and discovered they do not have Paco playing on them
but Fernando Perez "Pucherete" and Ricardo Escudero.

However, there are 4 remaining tracks on the LP and this may lead to another unlisted EP featuring Paco....

RE: Pacos Discography (in reply to Pimientito

After some searching I tracked down the remaining 4 tracks on another Manolo de Vega EP.
I was hoping that this would lead to the discovery of 4 new Paco tracks.
To my disappointment the tracks were also credited to Fernando Perez "Pucherete".

This sort of thing has been quite common with mislabelled records, incorrect credits and false leads.
However it does tend to suggest that we have successfully listed all of the Manolo de Vega and Paco tracks
and I would be very surprised if another EP was out there because those tracks would have been used on the Album.
