Just returned from a gig at this Fasion week that is beeing held in my city. I needed to share my experience with you guys because if i dont get it out of my system i will go to sleep angry :)
Man is always the case the more money they have and the more they should be good they are accutaly worse. I was so excited playing a gig on the catwalk with dancers etc.
the deal was that Guitarists (2) play in one tent for 20 minutes than move over to the other tent meet the dancers and go on the big stage. So this woman who is used to dealing with models (wearing one of those maddona no hands walkie talkie things ) came to get us to take us to the first tent we were sopposed to play for, and shes like so freakin rude, so she takes me and the other guitarist to the first tent, there is like 50 pple there standing up talking and drinking and shes like ok play here for 20 minutes. and we are like err do you have 2 chairs ? not to mention that they didnt even had sound on this tent, and we couldnt even hear ourselfs playing.
hehe i dont think the crowd in there even knew we were there.
I keeped saying to myself (well this is just a quic think before the real gig starts on the main tent) SO 20 minutes is up so we have to go to the main stage to do soundcheck, so we go in there and I just needed a DI plug (for the pickup mic )SOund guy was like" DI plug ? i dont have a DI plug noone told me. lol we did ask for DI
SO they dug up this rusty knocked around silver looking microphone that sounded like i was playing at the bottom of a bucket.
SOundcheck is over we are to go outside and wait for the dancers to come, dancers come they go in backstage ofcourse guitarists arent alowed backstage because Models are changing!!!! so here we are waiting 20 minutes in the cold with our fingers freazing than the woman comes out ok cmon Lets go on , go go go.
SO we rush onstage , the blody idiots didnt even anounce us so the crowd think that is a brake so they all leave the tent (and our sound was low and **** it sounded like elevator music).
after all that **** here we are doing this gig for a camera and a room of 15 poeple.
This people spent so much cash paying us , hiring out and closing down the Mall putting out tents cooks yet they had no clue how to deal with anything that dosent work like a Stereo just press play and it works.
I have had much much worse experiences but you think that beeing someone with this much cash behind them, they would be a litlle more organised. Ah yeah and this think wasent even open to people it was just the who is who of dickheads.
I once did a 1000 dollar a plate dinner gig for sydney 2000 olympics and had 2 pple fencing right on top of us ( not only did i have to keep my eyes on my guitar but i had to keep my eyes on where the guys sword was at all times LOL ). i think it was organised by the same pple i think, and played for the same snoby crowd.
Thank you for taking the time to read this but i was so fustrated and it just happened so i guess is fresh in my memory, if there was a crowd of pple that would understand my furstration it would have to be you guys, since i imagine many of you have at one time or another been to a gig and tghout " why did they even bother to get us when all they needed was a cd player".
ALl i know is one think !!!! Anyone ever mentions Fashion Week and Gig to me ever again in the same sentence I am gonna punch em in the mouth !!!! :)
by the time i made it to this line , i am acctualy laughing.
