Difference between spruce and cedar

Is there any fundamental difference in sound with a flamenco blanca built with cedar top as against a spruce top with cypress side and back?

Si, no es blanca, por lo tanto ella no es flamenca

Well, it's still called a blanca... actually it's called a cedar top blanca

It's difficult to say in words, the difference in sound and the builder is very important in this aspect. As something general, you can say that Cedar gives you a rounder sound, it has more midrange emphassis and drives very well in arpeggios etc. It does not have the brilliance of spruce and the rasgueados might be a little muddyer. and not so sharp and distorted as on spruce.

The cipres/cedar combo opens up easyer and is somewhat easyer to play + they can be loud. I've tried some very nice ones, but I must admit I'm very much a spruce man
