Niño Miguel

Make no mistake, Niño Miguel was a great genius of flamenco guitar. His premature death is devastating news, just when he seemed to be pulling himself together.

I wrote a little piece for Deflamenco, the English version is at: http://www.deflamenco.com/revista/noticias/nino-miguel-1952-20131-1.html

I sincerely hope that people who may not have heard of Niño Miguel before will now discover his music.

Nice article Zata, I love that space picture of him too. I said it before but I'll say it again. Hands down stylistically my favorite flamenco guitarist of all time.

As far as I know this was the earliest example of toque in D# (Mi bemol) I have ever come across. If it is true he is the originator, considering it's popularity with almost EVERY major form (Solea, sig, fandango, buleria, solea por buleria, tangos, tanguillo, rumba, etc) in modern toque repertoire, I would say this is one of the most important contributions to toque since the first days of toque levante and Rondeña of Montoya etc. I hope some day there is definitive answer so credit can go where it is due. Meanwhile, Miguel's is a sad story of the hard life of a great artist that never hit the big success he deserved.

Really?????? Could this be true??? That would be awesome!
What is (Mi bemol) by the way? D# like everything 1/2 step down?
