Ron's tree, planted!

Not sure if this belongs in another part of the Foro; but yesterday I planted a tree dedicated to the memory of our friend Ron.

The words on the stake say" Dedicated to the memory of Ron M - Ole'"

It's a nice strong specimen of an Asian Pear -called "Kikusui" ( a rare Japanese variety). I grafted it this Spring and it's been growing really well and should be a strong tree, with fruit in a couple of years.

I took a few shots if anyone's interested in seeing them. There's an album attached.

R.I.P. Ron.

Very thoughtful Arthur. I moved it into Ron's section. Thank you very much.

This is a really nice gesture , its amazing how far reaching the influence and freindship of Ron went

An Asian Pear ... I wonder if you could make a guitar out of it in the future ......

Good one and a nice tree. I love pears.

I dont think it´ll grow big enough, but you can make violin backs and sides out of pear.

You're right, Anders. Most of my older Asian Pears are on semi-dwarf rootstock, and rarely get thicker than 4 inch calibre. You might try a three/four piece back. But not off THIS tree. This one will stay growing for a long time yet. Much longer than me, I'm sure. . .

A pear tree...another part of Ron's continuing presence in our world.

Thanks, Arthur.
