Thanks for all your kind comments, guys. John, I use only french polish finish. I don't believe it is necessary for optimal sound, but the marine varnish I like made the household sick and lacquer I can only spray outside in the summer. Anyway, fp is probably the most beautiful. Labor and time intensive though! I mixed four differently colored shellacs to get the color I used on the back and sides, and used "beige" shellac for the soundboard. By the way, John, I really enjoyed your playing on your Japan video. You added some really nice touches to some Sabicas material, among other things.
