A few members have expressed interest in finding a copy of Juan Greco's flamenco guitar method. If you want a hard copy Amazon has them, used only, anywhere from $18 - $60. If you want a new copy - in Spanish only - the book can be found at fine fretted stringed instruments for $29.95. However, if you would like a digital copy - in English - for free go to the website scribd. I just uploaded a copy of Mr. Greco's method in PDF format. A brief comment about scribd is in order; scribd began in March, 2007 in a San Fransisco apartment, it is now considered the world's largest online Library / file sharing site. In order to use scribd you have to share documents, the service is free but you have to contribute. Scribd is much like how Napster was back in 1999, this is the future of the publishing business in general. About Juan Greco's book, it was published back in 1958, in Spanish only and is consider the 1st good flamenco guitar method. I don't know when the English version was published, maybe some you baby boomers can help me with that one. Anyways, for those of you who don't feel comfortable becoming a scribd member send me a PM and I'll gladly email you a copy.
Juan is Donn Pohren’s brother-in-law, and as far as I’m aware is still alive. If I were he, I would not be amused by this — unless, of course, he’s released it into the Public Domain?
RE: The Flamenco Guitar by Juan Grecos (in reply to dformell)
Copyright usually extends to 50 years, depending on country. I know it's 50 years in Canada. I would highly recommend NOT posting about sites where you can illegally downloads books and music.
RE: The Flamenco Guitar by Juan Grecos (in reply to dformell)
It's been a longtime since I've posted to this forum. Hopefully all of you are doing well. It's amazing how much things change in 10 years! I myself have just recently gotten back into flamenco after playing the baroque guitar & lute for the last few years. Anyways, I blew the "dust" off of my digital copy of Mr. Greco's flamenco method - some good traditional falsetas in there. This got me thinking, so I googled the title out of curiosity and the book is now back in print. Royal Classics has recorded the lessons which are available for free on their website. Here's the link: http://www.royalclassics.com/laguitarra.htm?idioma=en&id_pedido= Royal Classics - located in Valencia, Spain - sells the book in Spanish & English. In the U.S. a copy can be purchased from Guitar Salon International.
