nice , very well done , I like the headstock design ....
Also 2 vids of you same person same tune same everything one negra , one blanca
great idea ...why i never seen that before .....ok just me maybe .......
Negras usually have a good bass voice, which players can use to great effect on slower pieces , and with a dropped D or Rondeña tuning can be very efective
Anyway I listened phrase by phrase and I thin k I prefered the sound of the negra overall ( for what thats worth ) it just seamed to have a little extra in a fewe categories , like tone and power for example ..i will listen a few more times ...

Well played , I like the arpeggios that you have ..

Holy Sh1t! I cannot believe how good these guitars sound. You have my attention,
Mr. Polaco.
Tell us about the headstock design, what is its inspiration?
Thanks and keep building more.

Both of them sound great, but I prefer the blanca. I guess I like the fact it doesn't sound so "smooth"

RE: Negra Finished (in reply to Austris

Thanks! that is very interesting...

I actually sold it to a player who plays flamenco but mainly classical. He likes a clean, open, immediate response. I also like a dry, woody strong barky tone and maybe not so clean either..

Interestingly we did a very high quality studio recording comparison of his best guitars including Manuel Reyes negra. (he has dozens of superb guitars) and in a completely blind playback comparison my negra was chosen for overall tone, balance, clarity, resonance, desirable sustain etc...

My third guitar is almost done. It is the same as the first blanca but has a Reyes soundboard. We'll see how that one differs from the first. It is exactly the same otherwise...

IMO, you don't need those little pieces between the fans at the bottom. I've seen several Reyes' where he doesn't use them. I've built both ways and haven't noticed a difference. I think perhaps they were used for a particular guitar to stiffen that area for that particular top. It looks really good Polaco. I appreciate nice clean work! It says a lot about the builder.

Thanks Tom!

They do seem somewhat flimsy but maybe they maybe help stop the humping between the braces possibly...?

Don,

No real inspiration just started drawing but I do generally like inverted curves or concave cures, they seem more delicate and majestic to my sensibilities - for what that is worth. :)

Thanks again,

Taking the Negra out tonight to play one last time before I hand her over.
The buyer is coming by to play a set then take her away! :(

You are correct. I believe that was the intent of these braces. It just occured to me that my profile picture is of a Reyes top I built some time ago without those little braces.

Stunning job on both guitars. I think the negra sounds exactly the way a negra should and the blanca like a blanca should. Great playing, too. ¡Ole!
