Sevilla

So I'm off to Sevilla for a week.
I'll be taking guitar and compas courses at Taller Flamenco.

I'm going to Sevilla in september. Any flamenco bars/Tablao's that are a must see? I'm only there for 4 days then I go to Ronda for a course with Juan Martin. (I know he's a controversial character in these parts )

Haha! It's more of going to Spain for the sake of going to Spain. My teacher loosely knows him and said "Do you wanna do this?" I said sure and then organized a vacation around it. It'll be my first vacation ever so I'm just excited to not work for more then 3 days in a row for the first time in my life. Nino de Pura would awesome though, that guy's an animal does he give lessons in Sevilla?

My favorite place by far for weekly shows and sometimes bi-weekly was the peña Torres Macarena. A lot less touristic than the other places I went to, a much more real feeling because there are always so many members, and cheap. Where other places were mostly filled with tourists, there the majority were Spanish people.

Here is there web site and schedule.

The Peña Juan Villar invited the people from Torres Maracena to visit: we had a fantastic night, good tapas, great music, lovely people. The members of the Peña are better than some professionals and all had a great time.

Looking forward to their invitation to Sevilla.

Had some great flamenco at the Casa de la memoria, c/Ximénez de Enciso 28 (check out their programme here).
Good tapas at "Paco" on the Alameda de Hercules, nice atmosphere in the early afernoon at the Victoria Eugenia, Plaza de Villasis, and of course the best, prize winning tapas of all, at Eslava, c/Eslava.
