Walnut Top

Hi,
I'm a newbie in guitar building -- reason for stupid questions :
There's a loty of " advertisement" for the warm sound of walnut. Obviously it is the top. Was wondering what the sides and back should be, since color and pattern of walnut is very especial. Is it ok to build top, back and sides all from walnut ? Is walnut friendly to bending , planing and sanding? In Iran walnut is considered very hard and difficult to work with. I once dismantled a 50 year old walnut dresser and I even couldn't sand it.

Hey there, walnut makes great backs and sides, but not good tops on flamenco guitars.

you want a spruce or cedar top really. Light and stiff is generally the way to go

I have to agree with this , I only know of walnut tops on electric guitars , for the back and sides a nie bit of wood would have a nice pattern , but I think the guitar would be somewhat heavy ,,,,,,
If you were thinking of building I would do a lot of research and see what people are building here.........
