it would really make my day if you guys started analyzing my pieces, why certain things happen, why i choose the chord - and then i would just say because it sounded good

In your major example there is no chromatic passing tone from EM7 to DM7. CM7 contains E as its third and there is therefor no note to use to pass.

EG#BD#
CEGB
DF#AC#... Excuse me but G#-G-F# was chromatic movement last time I checked. That even occurs with the simple major triads without the maj7 extensions.

.....and I am out of here .............as I see where this is (not ) going and where it may (not) end up..as I know looking at what has been proposed that it wouldn't be totally inaccurate to assume that I couldn't exactly not say that it is or isn't almost partially incorrect.

but also , I'm possibly more or less not definitely rejecting the idea that in no way with any amount of uncertainty that I undeniably do or do not know where this discussion shouldn't end up. Even if it didn't ......

I think I'll play the guitar instead .............

This thread is why so many people are put off by the mention of
music theory.

Afraid if they learn it, they may turn into one of these people that has a seven paragraph answer for questions like "what is this chord?" Very little time to practice after that.

It might be me but when reading theory posts by Ricardo and Kevin, I always come away with the feeling one is trying to help people understand vs the other showing people what he's know.
