how strong are your go-bars?

Just now back from a long hiatus and ready to glue the bracing onto my top.

How strong are your go-bars? Have you ever measured their compressive force with a scale? If so, how many pounds of force do they apply.

I plan on making them from poplar. Any thoughts on cross sectional dimensions?

thanks

all i can say is, make a few and try them out, see what works for you.

I only use titebond to glue wood, and I know that a proper fit doesn't need much pressure when you use just the right ammount of glue, I've glued things by applying pressure with my fingers and the joints held up perfectly.

personally I feel comfortable gluing the fan braces with just finger pressure, though I wouldn't reccomend it On my first blanca I glued on the bridge with just finger pressure from inside and outside the guitar, its been under high tension strings for a few months now and its holding up perfectly.

I have no idea exactly how strong mine are. You don't need a lot of pressure. Mine are simply wooden dowel rods with rubber screw caps I put on the ends I purchase from hardware stores.
