So who would play the best Flamenco guitar then?

A Spanish player or a non-Spanish player?

Surely it would depend on their ability and experience and not nationality?

cheers.

Can´t see it, Arash, but suppose it to be that take with a girl performing a jumped roundkick and the guy nailed / getting hit at the head and going down?

If it´s that:
I has been a lucky coincident of a perilously conceited girl with a stiff fool.

Makes me angry to just think of all those vain and irresponsible budo instructors out there who let clueless operatic followers fancying to be terminator in the streets.
Their hyper victims who end up beaten and desillusioned are many.

Last case that I recall was a woman who was smashed in the face with a mug by a drunk she had been trying to intimidate with martial arts merrits, on Oktoberfest. Unspeakable.

- I had a befriended Teakwondo teacher at Cologne University once gather his class and tell them that they must clearly know to be doing artistry / fittness and be urged to quit if having actually realistic self-defence in mind.

Anyway, fortunately the girl in the video got away.

seen this guy before. Lots of wild barely controlled spin kicks....he is lucky he lands em....but a nice montage of "best of" makes him look amazing on youtube. I am sure a big guy could come and knock him out with one punch.

Anyway the most amazing one he landed was one where he jumps and back flips and his kick coming down nails the guys face.

As we all know, it's the only way they can be allowed out of the house.

Arash, I'm afraid you've been terribly mis-informed.

Here's a link to the article: http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/02/why-thousands-of-iranian-women-are-training-to-be-ninjas/252531/

Some quotes:
quote:

The laws and official practices of Iran place enormous restrictions on its women. They are considered inferior to men in almost all legal matters...

quote:

The state has been doing its best to restrict women from sports, sometimes by simple harassment and sometimes bureaucratically...

Sorry, being a woman in a muslim country still sucks. These women are training in order to be able to defend themselves, not their oppressive president.

Not if you ask them, at least not the majority. It is really only a western projection that all countries and cultures have to share the same values as western societies. In case of Iran it is not moral topics or "the role of the women in Iran" anyway. The only reason why things like these are criticized from a western point is because they have some economical and political issues with Iran. It is a way how to dispute the legitimacy of a regime, calling it injust. These are just means how to get confirmation from media a folks and support for your issues. There are tons of countries where women must seem oppressed by western standards, yet they always focus on muslim etc countries as Iran. Guess why. Please dont think for a second they care about women or whatever people are oppressed in any country. As if.

RE: Ahmadinejad's Bodyguards (in reply to kudo

you will not understand what the middle east is truly like if you never lived there. its funny that most westerners who live in the middle east end up loving it and staying there for a long time, and when they have to leave for some reason, they wish to come back to the mid-east! its true!

Chester referred to "being a woman in a Muslim country." He was not referring to the Middle East, he was referring to Muslim Countries. Now, I have lived for many years in Muslim countries, from Pakistan (Peshawar) to Malaysia and Indonesia. My experience is that the closer you are to the Middle East and South Asia, the more restrictions are placed on women. The further away you get from the heartland of Islam in the Middle East (e.g., Indonesia) the more freedom women enjoy. I think this is because Islam in places like Indonesia is grafted on to a much older Hindu/Buddhist culture, and therefore is much more relaxed.

Nevertheless, even in places like Malaysia, any imposition of Sharia Law creates problems for women. Some examples regarding Sharia Law:

A. Women may inherit only half of what men may inherit.

B. In a Sharia court, it takes two women to equal the testimony of one man.

C. Perhaps most egregiously of all, if a woman is raped and wishes to take her case to a Sharia court, she must produce four (count them, four!) male witnesses to the rape in order to prevail. It is as if rape were a spectator sport. What's worse, if a woman cannot produce four male witnesses, she herself is charged with adultery.

This is not a case of projecting Western values on Muslim societies. It is a case of human decency. Yes, many women in Muslim societies readily accept their fate. But it is because they have been acculturated to it and know nothing else. It is like the caged bird who, while protected, does not know that a world exists outside the cage.

Cheers,

Bill

RE: Ahmadinejad's Bodyguards (in reply to kudo

I have done plenty of research and have lived and experienced life in several Muslim countries over many years, Kudo. I stand by everything I wrote in my post above. You, however, have not provided any evidence to refute anything I have written. It is not I, Kudo, who should "do my research." Rather, it is you who should "do your research" on Sharia law, how it is applied to women, and how its application results in the inferior status of women in Muslim societies where it is applied.

Bill

RE: Ahmadinejad's Bodyguards (in reply to Arash

You guys act like the whole world is one big conspiracy and you two are the only ones who realize it.

quote:

Not if you ask them, at least not the majority.

Have you ever read the book 'Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions'? It illustrates the point quite well. Here's a link if you're too lazy to read it on your own - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flatland

As far as they're concerned - this is how life is supposed to be.

Here's a newsflash - western values have evolved into what they are. They are the closest to breaking free from the religious bs that we inherited from the Christian dark ages.

As far as your conspiratorial notions - I do care about oppressed people. Men, women, muslim, whatever. I'm not running for office, nor am I trying to rally people behind me. Just making an observation.

Honestly Deniz, I see you whining quite a bit about western values. Why are you still in the west? Is it because these values really do allow for the best quality of life?

quote:

not all Muslim countries are the same

Do they follow Sharia law? If so, yes they are.

Kudo, please re-read your post and amend your circular logic if you expect me to take your points seriously.

quote:

you will not understand what the middle east is truly like if you never lived there

Guess what? I AM from the middle east and I know EXACTLY how it is there.

quote:

the USA uses the media to brainwash people

Here you go again. Don't you live in Canada? Why do you think your parents brought you there? Can it be because your chances for a good life were much higher than wherever they were before?

I have nothing against Muslims or Islam in particular, I just think that running a country according to a religion is a recipe for disaster.

RE: Ahmadinejad's Bodyguards (in reply to kudo

quote:

you really need to do your research!

For you to be telling me (or anyone else) to do research is rich, Kudo! You are hardly the one to be telling anyone to do his research when just last week (see the thread "Play the Hambone") you tried to get someone on the Foro to do your research and writing for you. To quote you, you "offered a job, no one took it and I am seriously screwed at school." Then you opened up the thread on pigs so you could elicit responses that you could use to frame your course-work. When your bluff was called and you were forced to confess that you cribbed your arguments from the internet, you wrote, "Sorry for wasting your time, but at least I now have some idea of what to do for this stuff, but i don't know how far it will take me. i just want to pass my courses, nothing more I could ask for."

Your whining and mewling, as well as the false pretenses under which you posted your fraudulent comments, do not instill confidence that you know what you are talking about regarding women in Islam or anything else, much less that you have any standing to tell anyone to "do research."
