Yeah I agree this has to be a joke. His right and left hand look like he could actually play. I think someone who had no idea how to play would show very different movement patterns.

Im completely confused too. The videos from a year ago are the same as the recent ones. His left hand especially does not look like someone begining guitar because normally a beginners hand remains closed and this guy his hitting major, 7th and diminished shapes??? Its completely puzzling!!

Yeah, but it would have definitely been broadcast by the BBC World Service "World Music" programme, if it was still being aired!
(Sounds like a fusion of Japanese/Blues/Folk/DeadDrunk music if I had to categorize it.)

Or maybe even the John Peel programme if you added drums and bass..
