I have come to realize it's not about time....it's more about inspiration than anything. When you are inspired you can really do stuff you can't do normally. YOu can play everyday but if there is no inspiration you are just going in circles.

I don't know how to quote, but I think you got it exactly Ricardo, inspiration is the key..when I've been
inspired things just seem to happen, like when you've just been to a flamenco concert,

But I find this happens very little,maybe it the time of year I don't know, but when I pick up the guitar
it feels like I'm playing the same things even though others may find them good I think I'm getting fed up of the sound of these pieces,

It feels that unless I learn a new piece I can't find many new sounds myself but I guess its down to inspiration as you say, and I would say a week and I notice

Solely in terms of technical proficiency? About two weeks is the longest I've gone without playing (not a single note -- finals week...), and I hadn't noticed any drops in technique. Longer than that and it definitely feels like I'm not at the top of my game, although fortunately I haven't had a period where I didn't play for so long very often.
