Hmmm , Nice guitar. I have a real bad GAS and like this guitar very much, despite having just bought myself a nice Reya Pardo blanca six months ago (winces).

Trying to work out if I can sell my soul twice to the Devil.

Could you give me an estimate of the cost for a UPS fragile shipping from the US to Hong Kong?

Thanks.

Hi Dino,

Tried to reply to your email but it bounced as undeliverable for some reason so I am posting here.

No, no plans to visit the USA at the moment, and I want to say this is only an enquiry, at this stage, so thanks for checking it out for me. The Conde sounds lovely. I bought my Raya Pardo over the internet and have to say I have no regrets (except about the hole in my bank balance).

I have no doubts about the Conde's playability. More concern about the sound.

Of course if it costs more to ship that the price of a ticket to SF, then that beomes an option :-) (if the Gov let me in and don't deport me on sight!)

Best

Hi richard!

Did you buy your Raya Pardo used or new? If used, which year is it? I used to have one which I sold to someone in the States and I'm wondering if it's the same one.

Saludos,

Avi

Thanx Doublek,

I had started a thread asking about Vasilis last year. That prompted him creating a foroflamenco account and introducing himself. I will go and visit his workshop this Xmas.

Un fuerte abrazo
Dino

Evharisto poli, doublek. It sounds like a nice guitar. But I am sure the recording process (EQ, etc.) has an impact. However, whenever I do make it back to Athens, I will definitely check look him up - no plans in the immediate future.

This is my last post on El Greco's "FOR SALE" posting. We really should move any more posts to the General section.

I would like to say once again that this 2000 Atocha Conde is an excellent Conde, one that stands out and is a Great buy for anyone interested in Condes. I have enjoyed plying it now and then as have others.

Hi Avimu,
Sorry about the delay - been busy this past week.

Yes, I bought the Raya Pardo second hand, from a company in Belgium (which I have since been warned off, though I found the company helpful and have no complaints myself - I'll say no more on that): it is a 1998 model, (I think No. 498) re-polished, used by a Belgian player who bought it new from RP in Granada. It's seen some service and there are a couple of minor marks on the wood, but given it's age it is in good condition. And importantly it plays very well. I just wish I could do it justice.

How well-behaved.

Won´t ya share with us as a bit on how your senses exploded with the new gem in comparison to the old nag? ( Or is she still acclimatisating?)

- Reminds me of my best friend and cousin, whose neck I smack once in a while for him to remember enthusiasm when due.

Hi Ruphus,

I just got the Green a few hours ago. I think Dimitri is a much better person to review the guitar, (as he has done on the website I listed) than I will ever be. He bought this guitar in 2004, just before he quit playing flamenco. So the guitar has never opened up or even played for the past 7 years, so it would be unfair to upload a sound sample for another 6 months. But the first impressions are very good. It is a very responsive guitar that I can play sweet or harsh on her. It is apparent that Green wants his guitars to project. I am happy that I am playing a 654mm guitar. It feels that it has more nerve and rasp. The strings feel more tight and they pulsate less (well the Condes are famous for that and it is fun to ride the wave). More tiring on the fingers though. They feel sore. Maybe I need some adjustment time.

By the way you shouldn't be the one talking. You are the one that owes us a sample of your DeVoe cedar negra. :)

Cheers
Dino

Hi Ruphus,
I sometimes feel I need a smack on the head every now and again to remind me I'm not dreaming. I'm still waiting for the Conde because Dino has kindly sought a new saddle and is getting it made as we mail. So it won't arrive until another week or 10 days. The pool of saliva is growing though.

My recording gear is stuffed away in boxes which are gathering dust since years now.
Just days ago ( after seeing some meter LEDs flashing in a movie ) was I thinking how badly I miss studio work.
Though, in the sense of tracking others, not myself.
I am in a technical state of metamorphosis that will be taking a while still.

Oh man I miss this Atocha...I used this for recording on my 2nd album. Thats a really good Conde blanca, much better than the two A26's from Felipe quinto that I've owned. Great trebles and nicely balanced. Who ever buys it next will be very happy.

Regarding Dimitry's Green..I played that at his apartment during a little jam hang out we had back in 2004 a week after he got it. I got to try that and the super DeVoe brazilian that he had..awesome guitars. It sounded great then so I'm sure its even better now. Congrats on that purchase and tell Dimitri I said HOLA hope he is doing well.

Oh man, you bought the Dimitri's Green !!?? No way.. This is the guitar and his webpage that moved me into commissioning my blanca from Aaron. It will blow your mind in some months after it will open, took like 1.5 years for me but I don't play at all lately.. Now it is much better than many guitars that I tried, cant compare to Conde at all though, way too different if feel in sound
(I have felipe A26 as well).

I am a big Royal Classics fan but they are expensive. La Bella 820 B are pretty good and highly recommended by Ricardo (our forum's Conde expert). I think he uses Luthier 35 Medium-High Tension basses and LaBella 802b trebles.

Good. I have just received some Luthier 35s - I've also got a few packs of Mari trebles (good with the Raya Pardo) which I will pair with the Luthiers to see what happens.

Excitement building by the day!
