A short trip Cordoba/Ronda/Malaga

Hi All
we're off on a short trip next week, 3 days in Cordoba, 4 in Ronda - to coincide with the Feria, and a final night in Malaga.

I wanted to try and see some flamenco while we are there, I have read that Kelipe in Malaga (Sunday Times! and second on the tripadvisor list) is worth a visit,

any advice?

While in Ronda during May, 2007 we enjoyed the show in the basement of the Museo Lara in Ronda.

It was an enjoyable fairly traditional performance in nice surroundings.

In 2009 a new flamenco club was inaugurated in Ronda.

I haven't been there, so I can't comment, but you might give it a try.

Sadly the Restaurant Pedro Romero, across the street from from the bull ring, has changed from its pleasant ambiance of 20 years ago to processing busloads of tourists.

The Hotel Reina Victoria, now a bit worn, still has its commanding views. The Parador, formerly the city hall, could be even better. The scene in Hemingway's novel where the members of the Fascist city government are made to jump into a deep gorge to their deaths, actually took place at the city hall of Ronda.

As regards Ronda the Pena Flamenca and the Museo Lara dont have regular performances. Pilar Becerra, flamenco teacher, does a tablao weekly in the Casino, Plaza del Socorro. There's 2 tablaos in Cordoba, the show type Tablao Cardenal near the Mezquita and the more gypsy La Buleria off Plaza de la Corredera. There are a few penas but the times are difficult to get hold off, being very late on anyway and they are in very narrow streets looking just like ordinary houses. There is one near the archeaological musuem.
