WhErE iS ANDERS?

I'm not getting my daily dose of Scandinavian withering sarcasm and scorn.

Where are you guru of grumpiness?

No no, we had more than enough rain this summer here in the Netherlands.
I like a little bit of sun, temperature around 20 Celcius, and a pina colada served to me by a long-legged beauty.
And yes, being on Anders' list makes me very very happy!
Please read my my mail somewhere in Discussions, General, one two three four, etc
Best wishes,
Geert.

RE: WhErE iS ANDERS? (in reply to geert1957

You are like me then

I am the owner of Anders' Nr.85.

All i can say is that it is an extremely good guitar, it is VERY flamenco, but still versatile(ive used it in consert to play some of Enrique Granados' spanish dances)

It does sound best playing flamenco and really shines then, but being able to play spanish classical music on this guitar is something special too... it makes it sound very flamenco-ish in sound, and that is good considering the moorish influence on alot of spanish music. I guess there is no need for me to talk more about this since you will be visiting his workshop

RE: WhErE iS ANDERS? (in reply to estebanana

Hi Jonas,
I saw your nr. 85 guitar at Anders' blogspot. How does that extra soundport affect the sound, because I want to have that too? It is very beautiful, but I have to decide whether or not with inlay because of the extra price.
I already mentioned to Anders that I like that very lightcoloured, almost white finish those nr. 84, 85 and 86 have.
The music you play, classical Spanish music, is exact what I want to play on this guitar. I am studying Leyenda/Asturias right now and Tarrega's Recuerdas de la Alhambra. Should sound stunningly on a flamenco guitar.
And I also want to learn playing real flamenco, if possible for a Dutch guy.
When I visit Anders in october, I also will pay a visit to Seville and try to join a workshop or some kind of one or two hours of instruction there. Lots of possibilities I saw on the internet.
Jonas, do you have any video's from yourself playing guitar uploaded on YouTube? I am very interested as our taste (Anders flamenco guitar, classical Spanish music, flamenco music, pina colada, long-legged beauties etc.) seems about the same to me....haha.
Best wishes from the Netherlands,
Geert.

RE: WhErE iS ANDERS? (in reply to geert1957

Haha, it seems it is finally time for me to upload something then!

About the soundport, i feel that it opens the sound of the guitar more, also it feels like the air around me becomes really thick because of the sound, like the sound is a physical thing i can touch and feel, it is very nice... but you have to experience it yourself to really see how it feels, it is not easy with a video or sound example.

It also helps you better hear yourself in consert setting!

I can also say that the tone of the guitar isnt drastically changed because of the soundport, i think that it is more about the projection that makes this effect, to say it easy, with soundport i feel like i am swimming in sound from the guitar, but it is still a guitar and still sounds like it

I would get a soundport if i were you, it doesnt turn the guitar into something alse than a guitar, but it becomes a guitar with a different experience,i went with inlays, just because it looks so beautiful, and Anders did great craftmanship on it.

RE: WhErE iS ANDERS? (in reply to estebanana

I´m here again.
I´ve actually been at home and building for the past 1 1/2 month. I´ve been alone with doggy and it was nice. I didnt feel like internetting etc.

My wife was diagnosticated ALS a year ago, so times are really tough here. She´s getting worse incredibly fast. She cant talk and basically cant walk anymore. There´s no cure for ALS, so its a matter of time.

This also means that I dont know if I will be very active on the forum. I have to concentrate on the important things.
Fortunately I can say that my building is doing better than ever. When I go into my workshop and turn on the radio, its like going into another world where dissease etc. doesnt exist. I dont stay long, but long enough to feel alive. And IMHO, the guitars I´ve made the last year have been, by far, the best ones.

Dear Anders,
I didn't know what was going on in your private life, I am speechless.
To you and your wife, I wish you all the best, all the strength in the world.
And I am glad that in these hard times, building guitars and listening to music gives you some kind of comfort to you.
Take care,
Geert.

Hello Anders,
I'm so sorry for you both. I wish you will have the strength and endurance to deal with it.
It's very good that you have your work as method to relax and recover. Take your daily time-out to relax. Even if it may seem selfish sometimes, it's better for you both as you have to keep your energy. Don't feel bad about this.

Good luck, my thoughts are with you!

It is saddening to hear that.

As mentioned above; it must certainly be good that you have a passion that helps standing through.

My best wishes for both of you during these hard times.

RE: WhErE iS ANDERS? (in reply to estebanana

Hi all.

Thanks a lot.
I´m actually feeling better now than half a year or a year ago, when it was all a shock... Now its "just" getting worse.
To Julian:
You´re right in what you say. we all have a right to live. And I take my time for myself. I´ve just been alone with doggy rowing in Portugal during 4 days. Just rowing in my homebuilt skiff and sleeping in the bush.
Besides, I´m not alone with Sole. Her son which is 26 years old is here as well. So life continues.

I´ll post something a little bit more happy soon and a bit more on topic..... I just felt like saying how my situation was. Afterall I´ve been a member here for more than 8 years so its a part of my life.

Hi Anders
To be seriously ill is tough, but to be caring for someone who is very ill, that is even tougher I think.

As someone famously said 'Life is just one dammed thing after another'. We just don't know what's round the corner, and the only sensible thing to do, is to make the most of each new day.
I'm sure you are doing this despite everything.

It will be great to hear from you on the forum whenever you can join us.
Best wishes to you
Kevin
