Taller de Compás CD discounted, onl...

One day this CD will be a collectors item. We produced this CD for the kids of Almanjáyar back in 2002, it won the best flamenco percussion CD of the year and we went on to do a tour of the States. Some of you will remember this and I am sure quite a few of you bought the CD back then.

Now there are only 18 Cds left for sale on CDbaby so I discounted the price and we hope to sell them all, if not I will be removing them from CDbaby and have them sent back to me here in Spain. So if you want one get it now ! Enrique Morente sings on one track accompanied by Emilio Maya and the young flamencos. You can have a listen to excerpts at this link

Cdbaby was founded by Derek Sivers in 1998 as a place for him and then his friends to sell CDs online. It grew at a fantastic rate and Derek finally sold the company for 22 million dollars in 2005. He has written a book about it and his business philosophy which makes very interesting reading for musicians/entrepreneurs. The book, which costs only 8 dollars, went straight to the top of Kindles best seller list on the day it was released last week. This is great news for us as along with the CD you get over 200 tracks to download free. Derek got in touch with us and asked us if he could use one of our productions and of course we were honoured and said a huge HEll Yes. So Emilo Maya's Temple is also included as one of the chosen downloads.

Nope we didnt release a digital version, too complicated to work out royalties and rights. It was really a charity record. The proceeds from the sales now will go to fund the editing and mastering of the live concerts from the US tour which we hope to put up for free on youtube, but it may take quite a while

We were criticised a bit at the time for creating a flamenco record with a rock and roll sound but all these years later it stands the test of time I think.

Oh i should have said that before they were selling at 20 dollars and i dropped the price to 14 dollars. A bargain !

will look into it...last shipment from cd baby took 3 months to get to australia..damn this 'i want it now' culture i've been sucked into..but thanks for the info.

Creo que ya nos conocimos. Hace tiempo que Emilio , Harold yo fuimos a Cadiz para una reunion. Me alegre que ahora está de marcha.

Ahora tenemos todos nuestros productos con CDBaby digital porque nos ofrece lo mejor acuerdo dandonos 98 % de las ventas. Bujio se ofrece solo 70% como casi todas de esas tiendas en España.

I have a copy of this CD. I saw Taller de Compas when they played in Nerja.
It really hasnt dated in the last 10 years and I still rate it as a great album. There are very few records dedicated to gypsy percussion. I have one called "desde moron de la frontera" which is good but sounds like it was recorded in a barn.
This is one of the few really good percussion recordings that captures the compas, percussion, tacon and jaleo of Granada flamenco and a great addition to anyone wanting to build a serious collection of flamenco recordings.
