1976 Shelton-Farretta for sale

If anyone is interested, I'm thinking of selling my 1976 Shelton Farretta blanca.

Label reads: Concert Guitar No. 1446, Portland, Oregon, Jan. 1976, and the label is signed by the builders John Shelton and Susan Farretta.

All solid woods.
Cedar top.
Cypress back/sides.
Ebony fretboard.
Friction pegs.
Scale: 655mm
Nut: 53mm

Guitar is in decent shape. There is normal wear, scratches, scuffs, for a guitar that is 35 years old. There also is wear at the lower golpeador (see the photo) from many years of playing and golpe. The rosette is also a little worn. There are no major cracks. Guitar is structurally solid and plays well. It has very dry, raspy, percussion-like, old school flamenco sound, and she can really boom (loud). Guitar is very light, about 2.9 pounds. Comes with a black hard case.

I just had the guitar re-fretted, and a new saddle, and nut adjustment done by a professional luthier in Maryland. New Savarez strings on the guitar. she plays very well now---very traditional sound.

you should post a video/audio recording so that we can hear it and see what it sounds like. if you do that then you will garanutee more people getting interested in it.

so why are you selling it?

Hi, the luthier I hired is Steve Carmody. He works for himself but does a lot of work for the shop "House of Musical Traditions" in Silver Spring, MD. You can contact him through their Web site. Or I have his email and phone number somewhere.

I'm selling it because I have another guitar with very traditional sound (and light!) and I'd like to try a negra or one of the so-called hybrids.
