Just curious on something!! I have a 2010 Student Fransico Navarro Flamenco guitar.
When it first arrived it was strung with normal tension Savarez strings. Since then I tried D'addario Pro Arte normal tension TWICE and DISLIKED them big time.
They made my guitar sound to mellow and the G string didn't sound good at all. However, when I change them back out to Savarez the guitar sounds way better.
My question and curiosity are from those that own a student Fransico Navarro model what kind of strings are you currently using?
My is Savarez and they can get pretty pricey, but, that is what works the best and last the longest!!!

I've tried a few different sets of strings: La Bella 820B, Luthier 20, Luthier 30, Addario EJ46. I found the Savarez strings that come with the guitar to sound pretty bad.
La Bella 820B: Trebles sound okay, but bases were terrible. Luthier 20: Did not sound good on my guitar and the string tension felt too tight. Luthier 30: Trebles sound good, but bases still not there. EJ46: I found my Navarro sound best on these strings and they're also cheap. Large boomy bases. Drawback is that the trebles don't have that brightness or bite to them.
I'm still trying out more sets, will update if I find something I like.

I use mostly luthier 30s to my navarro student. the sound is nice and raw. I dont like so much savarez, because they sound too thin with my guitar. Daddarios ej46 are there in the middle. Not enough raw, not bright but not thin. Sometimes nice, sometimes boring. But with daddarios I liked the brown Gstring.

Hi aleksi, well, the savarez I am currently using on my navarro student are the classical ones. I believe that the actually savarez that came with my student guitar were not the same one that I currently use.
Maybe I'll try a set of luthier 30's and see if my navarro sounds nice and raw!

i like d'addarios pro arte or composites (high tension) and luthiers (the dark silver set, highest tension.) i think my navarro is happier with higher tension strings. the composite g string from d'addario sounds good too.
at_leo_87, I would love the put high tension on my flamenco guitar, but, I am just scared that they might be tough to play on. I can always try a set of high tension and if I don't like them I can take them off and restring.

for me, if the action is set low, it doesn't really make a difference in the left hand. for the right hand, it actually feels firmer, and actually a bit easier, imo, because the strings rebound faster.

I was thinking the same thing. My action is set low of course, but the only thing that makes me hesitant is if I have to do hammer on or pull offs, I am afraid the high tension by be a little problem. However, I just might try them as well!!!

I have a student blanca and over the past 6 months I must have tried everything out there, *Daddario Pro Arte is what I keep coming back to. Normal tension. The cheapest but the best for me.
