I tried to move my registered copy of ASD (ver 2.7.6) to my new computer (still running XP Pro), but the program errors out after a few cycles. Have re-entered the password key, but no joy.
Emailed Roni Music and they say I have to upgrade to ver 3 at an additional cost of $30.
I've used the program for a while now and think it's really good, but I think $30 to upgrade a program which already cost me $40 a few years ago in order to make it work again is a little bit steep.
I'm happy with the program the way it was and don't really need any "upgrade".
It still seems to be essentially the same product with some bugs fixed?
Maybe not and I'm just being another moaner and not appreciating the guy's programming work and time?
I was given a license of Transcribe and never figured out how to do what I did through ASD, to me it was not intuitive and after 15 minutes I gave up. I really had no reason to move away from ASD so I did not have a reason to spend more time on trying to figure it out. I know Transcribe does more than ASD but ASD does exactly what I want.
I really like ASD and think it's worth the upgrade. I still run mine on XP don't know why running on Pro would cause it to fail. And I'm running version 2.02
I'm from the other side I used ASD and I much prefer Transcribe, its as easy as dragging an mp3 file or a video file and your off and running as well I like the free updates.
I still run mine on XP don't know why running on Pro would cause it to fail. And I'm running version 2.02
The problem is that just entering the pass-key is not good enough...it seems I need to run a small "license file" that would have been emailed with the key. (found out from Web search)
Unfortunately this is on my old HDD in Outlook Express.
Since I can only use this as a slave drive (Windows won't work with a different Motherboard) I cannot run or access Outlook Express.
I just installed version 2.8.5 to see what changed (nothing...from a quick look). All I needed to do was to enter my original password and it works. No license file.
I don't know what changed in version 3 but if it's the same from 2.0 to 2.8, I think $30 is a lot considering it's $50 for a new version.
i have version 3 and its workey with xp too, just FYI. transcribe, at least the version i had, cannot compete with the audio quality of ASD IMO. with a good recording, you can slow down to 20% and still hear clearly, thats pretty AMAZING.
Are you still running it on the same computer you first installed it on?
I've switched computers at least 2 times since I bought this and have reinstalled it using the same executable. Just one file Setup.exe, and then entering the password.
Since I can only use this as a slave drive (Windows won't work with a different Motherboard) I cannot run or access Outlook Express.
Hi Ron,
If u can acces the drive maybe you can inport the .PST files from your old outlook. There is a inport/export option in outlook under "File" so you should be able to inport old mail from your old disk.
I have done this sucsesfully in the past with my own old mail but I would make a backup first. You never know.. It still is Micro$oft...
RE: Amazing Slowdowner PROBLEM SOLVED (in reply to r0bbie)
Thanks Robbie...
There had been a bit of a mix up and Roni Music had thought my initial email was a "general" enquiry about how to upgrade and to confirm my previous registration.
Rolf Nilsson at Roni Music kindly sent me my missing "unlocking file", along with very detailed instructions of how to use it.
He also recommended downloading the version 2.8.5 and I must admit it has really great sound quality and much less artefacts than the original version I was running. Brilliant product IMO.
RE: Amazing Slowdowner PROBLEM SOLVED (in reply to Ron.M)
I also got a reply from Rolf with this info:

If you are into flamenco, then you should really check out version 3 of ASD It has a transient preservation slow down algorithm (Slow Down Type 4) sounds fantastic for plucked instruments such as a nylon guitar
if you test it, don't install it over your older version you can change the install path to say C:\Program Files\Roni Music\ASD 331 or something like that
if you don't like, just uninstall that version
