Tech help with my computer

I'm a dinosaur when it comes to tech stuff. Could any tech member please help me with the following:

I have Office 2000 on my computer – somewhere. The problem is there is no icon on my desktop for it, and I can't access it. I tried START-RUN-MICROSOFT OFFICE 2000, and nothing. Can anyone please tell me:

1) How do I access it?
2) Having accessed it, how do I extract Microsoft Outlook?
3) How do I get an icon on my desktop for either or both?

Much appreciate any help.

click on "start"
then click "all programs"
there should be a folder named "microsoft office"
in that folder should be an icon for "excel"

to create an icon on your desktop,
right click on that excel icon
click on create shortcut
a duplicate icon should be in the same microsoft office folder now
drag that new icon onto your desktop
