Looks gorgeous! Does the blackwood sound similar to Rosewood?

The rosette looks a lot like mine, so I might be biased but I like that a lot as well.

off topic, but Maddy, my daughter, is going to be in Denmark in a couple weeks. She's going with school in mid-April and will stay for two weeks.

Hi Anders

Congrats to your latest negra. It's a stunning beauty. Very nice work indeed.

I wonder how it sounds.

I have also purchased a set of malaysian blackwood just to get an idea about this wood. Visually i find it to be very attractive. Visually it is better than many other prime woods. Acoustically i find it to be rather poor compared to indian brazilian or african blackwood. Acoustically i put it into the class of Caviuna, Madagascar rosewood and Macassar ebony. However i'm sure it can make a nice sounding instrument as the top is still the most defining part of the guitar. I'll get it a try as well once i have the time to go for it.

Recently i have finished my first flamenca negra. It's a cedar top negra and it sounds amazing. I will post pictures and a video clip asap.

Saludos

Armando

Very nice Anders.

How do you like the weight compared to East Indian rosewood? I've built several guitars from Malaysian Blackwood, both cedar and spruce tops, and all of them were very nice, but they weighed more than East Indian rosewood.

Also, I like the way they polish out. The wood pores are easier to fill.

Hi
Thanks to both of you.
Armando, The taptone of this piece of Maly blackwood is actually high pitched and bell like. This piece is 100% quatersawn and I consider it to be a top quality negra wood. The guitar is very fresh, but vibrates a lot and already has these ringy trebles.
Tom, Yes, its pretty heavy and I agree that it polishes very well. I was actually surpriced, because the pores are big, but it was relatively easy to fill them.

Absolutely gorgeous work, your guitars are very special Anders. I don't know how you keep your prices so low with workmanship and materials like that.
Btw what tuners did you use there?

Deterresa, Keeping prices low is just a matter of accepting to drive a 24 year old car, never going out etc.

I will raise my prices soon. Not much, just a little bit. Now that the $$ is stronger there are no more excuses.

The tuners on this one are Gotoh high end.

I like it a lot, and have been contemplating a negra for some time. I'd be very interested in hearing a recording if that's possible.

That's really special Anders.

I'm sure you must build some guitars to order and then have trouble parting with the finished product.

Tone wise, how would this guitar compare to a negra made from Brazilian or Indian rosewood.

Thanks again.

Tonewise, its not far from rosewoods, and that doesnt surprise me because the taptone of the wood is very close to rosewoods.

If there´s a difference, maybe its that the basses are a bit dryer and the trebles has some more bell in their voice, but time will show. A guitar like this one needs some time to devellop its own personality

Wow!

Anders "En Directo"

Well, the moment you started playing there Anders, I got a big high from just the sound!!!

Tremendous, man......really, really great!!

Now to me....THAT is the Flamenco I like!

Glad to see you left out all the "six-note-picado" ornaments there Anders...

If that was just for me, then God bless you.

(I'll chuck a stone in the North Sea for you.)

BTW...Are you wearing any trousers there?
Or just underpants and a top?

Is this the "new" thing in Andalucia ATM?

Anyway,

GREAT PLAYING!!

Guitar also looks and sounds superb!

cheers,

Ron

Thanks Ron,

I took out all these, you know, ornamentations because I didnt want to annoy you. Besides, I wear these ugly red working trousers because my Kilt is being cleaned
