RE: who is behind "Andalusian G... (in reply to Arash

http://****/rdpacoart2.html

http://www.andalusiang.com/enrevolutionpacoag.html

The same passages on both sides:

"The revolution that Paco de Lucia carried out in the flamenco guitar was not only in the way of playing it but in its construction (morphology), woods, sound (timbre) as well as in its proportions.

Originally, the raw material with which flamenco guitars were made was only and exclusively Cypress (sides and back) and it was Paco de Lucía’s idea to make a guitar with the same wood as used for classic guitars (Indian Rosewood) keeping the same measurements and dimensions of the flamenco guitar. This influenced in the aesthetic of the traditional sound (timbre) and, so, it became an instrument with more character and strength."

Right from the beginning I was actually convinced that Professor Dr.
was behind Those guitars because of the ways he presented them.

Your information, Arash, gives my opinion some backing.

you know, there is no problem if a guitarist wants to sell guitars and advertise them...

but trying to fool people and leave the impression, that one is an independent guitar player who decided to buy an Andalusian Guitar "From others" is really annoying.

or make videos and say , its not about selling guitars (at 0.50 in this video), but later in the same videos , directly and indirectly badmouth all other guitars, is very poor tactic

Checking Rubin's site out, looks like Ottmar Liebert's performing barefoot has caught on. Don't know if Rubin plays Nuevo Flamenco.

damn, I can't believe he doesn't hear how much more clear toned the "spanish" guitar is! Notice he made a point (1:30) to say it was "spanish", he he, cuz he knows his guitars are mexican. But hey some people like mexican food better then spanish food, and some people actually can't tell the difference either.

I lost all the fun.

I had to cook, siesta etc and then the fun thread in General was closed. What happened?

I still have one serious doubt:
Are Andalusian guitars made in Andalucia????

There is an uncanny design similarity here....I mean regarding the "barbero" model.

If it's Diaz's company and he's Mexican, I'd bet money the guitars are made in Paracho.

Maybe he changed his religion again!

~~~~~
If so, he'll have to go around to lots of sites and remove his friendly greetings that always begin "Andalusian Guitars of Spain are the most prestigious guitar makers in Spain..."
Still, it's a pity the other thread is gone because I wanted to ask for a link to the most recent interview where Paco (de Lucia) recommends the "Andalusian Guitars".
The thread was deleted.
Like Anders, I am confused by these guitars. Most guitars carry the luthier's name either as the builder or under their supervision. Anything else reads like a factory guitar - just by tradition. Anyone here tried one?
Maybe you missed it before it was deleted, but Ricardo gave an informative account of his friend's experience with one.
There are other members here who have them or have had them, and at least one who recommended them when the topic first came up a while ago.
Ruben has a business partner in Toronto who has a "Conde" made by them:
Well,
I'll post it for you ricardo!
Ricardo posted the following message to General on Jan. 26 '10 15:57:10....
RE: Conde Hermanos guitars were my Religion now im unsure!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Um, this "spam de ruben"should be in classifieds. THen I would have missed it. But sadly it was posted here, and I am in a "mood", and I am a professional player and own condes and "faustino"from 70's, and have played many other makes, and in fact have recently played this Andalusian guitar. So I will give my 2 cents. Appologies in advanced to all involved.

Ok, I guess this crazy ruben guy from mexico was harrasing paco so much and gave him one of these "spanish"guitars while paco was living in Mexico. Yeah, Ruben is mexican too. And the guitars, they are CIEN POR CIENTOS MEXICANO. We may never know the maker (sorry anders) Anyway the same guitar design has gone under other names, alluding to spanish build, but address will always be an email address. If I were paco living in mexico, sure its great to get a free beach guitar, but I would eventually need to get a restraining order from police for all the craziness and harrassment. (Imagine if you had a guy like that so in love with you and knows where you live!!!) But that is just me.

Ok, so a friend of mine is a pro player too and was given a couple of these babies by Ruben himself. I guess I will keep him anonymous. He is also into building guitars. He felt the guitar was really bad, but since it was free he took a file to the bracing inside and took A LOT of wood out until it had a proper flamenco sound. Then there was the ugly wack job of a head stock. He sawed that off and made a know one that looked more "normal". He installed electronics, and after all the neck design was not right and filed that too. When I played it in December it was very "used", but sounded almost as good as a Sanchis. And that means a lot coming from me. My friend was adamant that it really sounded bad before he worked on it. So it was his throw around gigging guitar that he did not worry much about on the airplane etc. He remembered Ruben cuz he played on stage with him IN mexico, and later was harrassed by him about these darn guitars. (probably not unlike paco).

Anyway, as I said with a little work they do sound flamenco, but Sanchis is better IMO. And in mexico there are better makes, perhaps more $ but I don't know what andalusian guitars are going for. The business of using paco as an add, pretending they are spanish build etc, is just bad business IMO. But in the end, a guitar is a guitar and it does not matter the hype until you play it.

To mr viking, if you are happy with the instrument and PAID for it, great. If you got it for FREE (my guess based on your delivery) then just do your advertising in the classifieds section and leave it at that. The guitars will do the rest in terms of reputation if they are really getting better quality then the one I played.

Ricardo

i don't understand spanish, but doesn't the last post of an old thread of andalusian guitars themselves, in this foro, confirms that they are in mexico ?

http://www.foroswebgratis.com/tema-las_mejores_guitarras_de_concierto_en_mexico-4372-287011.htm

however the old website andalusianguitars.com is not active anymore (it is a "parked" site with ads)
