Hey Guys I have been listening a lot to Son de la Frontera in the car recently and I really like the way they make those old Diego Del Gastor falsetas sound so fresh. My favourite track on the Album CAL is the Buleria Menor. Its an old style buleria from Moron in A minor. I have transcribed the whole piece now but need to finish putting it down in a legible form.
The falsetas are basically all from Diego del Gastor but they have been cleaned up a bit by the group. The transcription was kind of tricky because its played on Guitar and Mandolin (or maybe triple) so I have made a solo version from the recording. It sounds straight forwards and its quite easy to memorise since the whole thing revolves around 3 chords.
However it is much harder to perform than it sounds. Dont forget that Diego was one of the better guitar players of his day. There are some lovely ligado passages and some tricky pulgar work. This is very good exercise for the right hand. Take care at the begining of the falsetas to get them to fit compas and play along with the recording until it sounds solid. The overall effect is very pleasing and its always handy to have some A minor falsetas in your hands. The recording is quite fast. Practise each falseta slowly at first before attempting it at tempo.
As usual right click file, "save target" to your desktop and then change the extension from .txt to .jpg

The next part has been sparsely fingered. I play the triplets p,a,m in lines 2 and 3 but you could use p,m,i as an alternative or even play 3 notes and bass on the first note.. At the end of the falseta is 4 rounds of compas which I havent tabbed. The next falseta is kind of tricky with the timing. Also the melody in the bass has an upstroke with the thumb which I have marked.

Here is page 3 The last part of falseta 2 is a descending passage in pull offs. Its all played pulgar. Falseta 3 must rank as one of the easiest buleria falsetas in flamenco history so everyone can have a go at this.

Pimientito, what do I need to open these files?? I cant open them.
You dont need anything. Click on the attacment. A box comes up with something like wvx33d.txt in it. Right click that link and save it down to your desktop. Once its on the desk top change the extension form .txt to .jpg.
I have just seen that you can upload .jpgs here at last. Only 2 years of asking
Victor - I think 2 of the falsetas in this piece are in that video but that like most live bulerias it is a compilation of several recordings.

For me, the notes don't seem as hard to figure out as the right hand and golpes
The tab is there to take out the hard work of figuring out the notation but most people will still need to spend a couple of weeks sitting down every day with the recording and figuring it out. Its hard to get it all to fit compas.
I forgot to upload the rest of this piece so I will do so this weekend
RE: Diego Gastor A minor Buleria (in reply to Pimientito)
many thanks for this Pimientito - i just learned the short basic JM version of this style bulerias and was looking for a few falsetas to expand upon it. great stuff!

Here is page 6
I haven't fingered it much. Its mainly a thumb melody and upstrokes with the first finger on the treble strings. The melody in the bass has some upstrokes with the thumb that I have marked. Its a tricky falseta, easily the most difficult one in the piece and will keep most players busy for a while.

Here is page 7 That's the end of the track folks. The theme at the beginning repeats here and there is some improvisation but that's all and its fairly east to work out from here.
This tab has been made by making a solo out of a recording of guitar and banduria. I have chosen the way that I think is best to carry it across but feel free to vary it to suit the way you play. Good luck everyone Pimientito

I was going to ask if any one has time to put these pages together as a single PDF and post it that would be great. I don't have time to make a .gp5. If you make your own then please post it. pim
