Fandango falseta question

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the first falseta in this video starts on 12 or 1.

I know (or I think) that Fandangos de Huelva start the falsetas in different places, like on beat 11 or 12, for example.

By the way, thanks to whoever uploaded all of these videos from Flamenco-Lessons.com...great stuff. I will try to upload a Fandango soon with some simple falsetas but I like this one and want to include it.

you shouldn't count in 12 but if you did he starts on 12, but the Am change comes on count 2. I just count in 3, in which case he starts on 1 for the compas. As you said, many falsetas would start on count 11 of a 12 count, or a count 2 of my 3 count method.

Thanks Ricardo...that sounds quite confusing! Would you mind listening to the uploaded version that I did and see if its right? I am not sure if after that falseta I fell back into rhythm properly.

It sounds confusing to me as well. Some (Claude Worms I think) talk about starting on 10.....uh, even more confusing and what is 1 and what is 12etc. All this counting to more than 3 is confusing (1 2 3 many is a 4/4 beat)

Two things about FdH I´ve learned here.
1) to tap your feet on the accent (very important)
2) Falsetas start on the beat after the accent OR on the beat with the accent. (most probably you can find some which start elsewherebut ingeneral it works)

The picado falseta you are talking about, tecnically starts on beat, but be aware that the first two notes are before the beat, so you could say that if you count 3 and 1 is the accent, then it starts on 3and.
Confusing. NO, just think of starting on beat and play the two little note before so that the third not enter on beat

Delete this post if it confuses things or I am wrong, but I Thought Fandangos de Huelava was counted in 6's.

Ted,

Yeah, you can count it in six as well if you want. It's just multiples of 3.

6 is quite good for hearing the question/answer theme which tends to run through a lot of FdeH falsetas.

ie

1,2,3 (4,5,6)
1,2,3 (4,5,6)

which is really just

1,2,3 (1,2,3)
1,2,3 (1,2,3)

The falseta is good but I dont like his way of playing the compás. almost leaving the F out. That sounds wrong to me.

Yes you can count 6 as well but you need to place the accents well and they are in 3
