Ron,

could it be you're confusing °C with °K?
400° C would be 752° F wereas 400° K would be 127°C ...

Hi Ed,

No I don't think so.
My soldering iron has a digital readout in Celsius, so I could experiment with the temperature settings versus IR luminosity.

Anyway 127°C is just above the boiling temperature of water and certainly wouldn't melt solder.

I had a look to see the exhaust temp of a helicopter jet engine and it's around 700°C, so I guess you wouldn't hold your hand up to it to check if the engine was working OK.

cheers,

Ron

Mr.Magenta,

Before you buy the LCD screen it would be worth taking the camera apart first and find out if you can make the mod....you'll need some very small tools, like jeweller's screwdrivers and some sort of magnification as the parts are very small and delicate.

Yesterday there was the beginnings of a thunderstorm, so I dived for the camera to see if I could pick up any lightning strokes or flashes...but no joy...of course the flash was over by the time I pushed the button...duh!
I would probably need to run in video mode and hope for the best.

The result still looks a bit surreal for a summer pic...a bit like someone's just dropped an atomic bomb!

cheers,

Ron

That pic of the doc is really great Ron!
In 3d renderings also HDRI images are used to calculate the highlights for a natural reflection.
This image really looks like it has been modelled....very nice

I still dont understand the tehnic of your pictures Ron.. Its infrared? Is it a detector for warm spots? Well... dont answer.. I have to read in more detail above in this thread.. I just checked the pictures so far and randomly read some comments.

When I saw the HDR pictures of Escribado I got crazy. I was very excited about the special look. I googled HDR and read through some photo-communities... Than I lost 2 days practicing guitar because I took my cheap digicam uploaded cusom firmware for taking pictures with different exposure times in bracketing mode and went outside looking for some nice high contrast motives for shooting.. hahaha.. I was very inspired.. thats creepy.. :./
Here two pictures I made, before and after HDRI-tonemapping. ^^
I hope you like it and dont be annoyed by the space these pictures take in this thread.. Well.. Im still very impressed about the awesome pictures I saw since last week...

I love the look too and you prove you need high contrast subjects to get the best out of it. The architecture around your way suits it well. Very nice. The next sunny day I am going into the older part of town and doing the same.

I have a photographer friend and he will be doing some HDR shots of my guitar building process (obviously mostly of piles of shavings and tools etc)

Should be interesting

Yes, its gonna look very good without doubt. I read that most commercial car-pictures are made with HDR. This technic is just 4 years old as I read in another forum.. Its great. Im very happy waiting for my next spain jouney in october! Madrid, Sevilla and some random traveling in between..^^I´ll shoot only photos for HDR! I hope to get a better camera for the trip!
