Yamandú Costa - hot Brazilian guitar

Over in the "I met/cooked for/got wasted with/got kissed by/etc. a famous player" thread, Conrad said:

Haha. Assads are my heroes in the classical guitar world. I'm totally jealous. I saw them in Toronto this weekend but was too tongue tied to approach them.

It was drag seeing them with that lousy sound system and 1000 people standing around talking, but you could still tell they are amazing. Then you probably saw Yamandú, the Assads are supporting him very enthusiastically, he seems to be the Brazilian guitar sensation of the moment (he was at the party, too )
he's pretty impressive:

Ya, the concert was not as spectacular as I was hoping, given the sound, and their choices from their Brazilian repertoire, but it was cool to see them in person. I would have loved to hear Baiao Malandro or Jobiniana, or something from their latest album. Even better would be some Baroque repertoire but that would be inappropriate. How did you get in to this party??? Why didn't I know about it??? Grrr What happened there? Did they play any more? Any stories?

Yamandu was very cool. He is kinda eccentric but charismatic. Lots of energy, bopping along in his chair and raising his legs in the air while playing. I liked the moment when most of the audience thought a piece had ended and he went real quiet and threw a funny, playful look to the crowd.

I actually have Sergio's email address. I was going to send him a fan letter sometime. I know, so cheesy...

Conrad: The Assads didn't play because they wanted Yamandú to play, so they drank and talked and he played. Drop me an email I'll explain everything
