Hey Jason..this is an easy falseta man give em some harder ones like the ones you taught me in the past LOL! j/k. I love your unique feel and ideas as always...your teaching is definitely an influence in my playing. I agree with what you're saying about just diving into something and just learning it...cause you really learn a lot this way and can put towards your own falsetas. For anyone that has not checked out Jason's lessons - Go check it out!! its probably the best online flamenco guitar tutorial out there and Jason's way of teaching is one of his many gifts.

BTW, Stephen Duros and I hung out in Berkeley during my visit to Cali in Jan. He said he is learning a lot from you and having fun at your gigs. Congrats on the two years of Flamenco-lessons.com! I learned that sevillanas solo of yours and sometimes play it at my gigs - very cool and dancers love it.

I guess that means you will be participating.... Since its so easy, it will be like taking candy from a baby for you. I remember you having some pretty complex ideas yourself. I recently did a tremolo bulerias falseta for my website thats pretty hard, maybe that one would be better.

Stephen is a cool guy. He's not really a flamenco player, but he is very musical and his rhythm is very, very good. It makes playing with him a pleasure. He likes to play things more up tempo versus the chilled out stuff he plays on his other gig.

Enough candy taking from babies..yeah right LOL actually nowadays the problem is time...apart from gigs and life I'm working on my 2nd album and its kicking my butt its 3:50 am in the morning and I'm here editing on Pro Tools...just taking a quick break on the Foro before I go nuts! LOL..

Yeah Stephen showed me some of the material on his new album and its pretty nice...not complicated but he is very musical..he is a really cool guy. He has got some funny stories about his other gig that I'm sure you've heard about He told me he just bought a new DeVoe blanca that he is very happy with. Keep it up man..your playing is always an inpiration. Once all this craziness is over I'll get back on your site and get some much needed refresher course!

I am planning on posting some extra videos to explain in even more detail for the more beginning level players who want to give it a try. I promise it will be slow enough and detailed enough for you to learn the music. In that regard someone who was a beginner could actually win through hard work and honest listening to their own progress. I love to hear that there are some people willing to try despite their level. Good luck flaco. I will get those extra videos up soon.

sure. what i share with students and friends can be used how ever they want. what bugs me is when people use your stuff on recordings and don't mention your name, but i doubt you would ever do anything like that. your too thoughtfull for that.

LOL! okay you got me Doit...I guess I'm a coward who talks big It was meant as joke but I was also comparing the material that Jason was showing me back in the early 2000's when I took lessons with him were a little more difficult than this.. but its understandable cause that was a private lesson this is set up so even beginners can learn it ..btw, you have a video of your playing? if so it'd be great to see..

Calm down. Its not the hardest falseta and its not the easiest falseta. It is fairly complex mostly in a rhythmic sense and that is what I found to be what most players need to focus on when playing falsetas....... being more precise with the rhythm. Players of all levels can benefit from excercises that hone that particular skill.

Hey DonS.... maybe I can buy back the complex falsetas I showed you before. I need some new complicated ones and since I probably forgot the ones I taught you they will be just like new ones.

Jason,

of course youre right. I was just half joking due to the fact that Don is calling something beginner, to which even you refer in your comment video as advanced lesson. That just amused me. There is also a difference in choice of words between "benefiting from the falseta" and "learning it".

The serious half was: if beginners can LEARN this, i DO feel motivated, since i would call myself pre-intermediate. Words beforehand are not needed anyway, we will see the results.

Jason, you´re right, its a big file, but its worth the download. I have never been taught anything so profound, so that is inspiring in itself.
I think I will have a go, but very slowly. Just a couple of compases a week.

Good to see your twin soundport cutaway peghead. Its as special as it gets. If you are into it, I could make you a twin soundport cutaway peghead harpguitar one day

I would love to check out one of your guitars someday. I am sure they are wonderful. It is fun to have a maker who lives nearby (Glenn Canin) that is open to trying new things. Tradition is also a something to be respected, but if we just accept things without challenging we will certainly miss out on opportunities to progress. I was dead against the idea of soundports and then my friend Stephen Faulk brought me a blanca with a port and while I was alone with the guitar in my VERY quiet studio, I began to strum the open strings while covering and uncovering the port. The difference was astounding. Open... not just louder, but more open as well. I began to demonstrate to students to see if it was audible from the "audience" perspective. All of them heard what I was hearing. I had to call Glenn and it turned out that he had already been deep into the idea and was waiting for someone to ask for ports. Glad to hear you are starting to experiment with ports too.

haha.. Hey DonS I'm for sure a person who talks too big sometimes... Good to have you in. I need the feeling to have really strong opponents. Otherwise I don't give all... I'm extremely lazy.. And a wise friend told me a couple of month ago.. "A good horse only jumps as high as it has to". Well,.. it's not good to do all things with this in mind,..but.. it works for me. :.)

Ok, I´ll upload next week something of my actual playing. I´m playing very bad in all videos I have.. (could be that my playing really sucked or still sucks..) (Ok.. I just dont want to scare the **** out of my opponents... ;.) So.. I´m preparing something for a dance class at the moment. I´ll record this falsetita.

Jason, thanks for the extra explanations! I wondered to learn a new technic with watching that..... The upstroke golpe with the thumb. You are full of suprise!

eehmm.. Yes.. and..? Till now nobody entered the challenge whose playing really scares me. Ok except of DonS who has an excellent CD out. Really good material.
Florian, don't you watch boxing? I love watching boxing and the interviews with the fighters before the fight night. A challenge is like a boxing fight. And the thread is like the interviews. There is need for some "trashtalking" and making oneself bigger. That´s pure fun...and..it belongs to a challenge. It´s important.

I´m not a professional player... I only play at the weekends and in some danceclasses... So, I should´t be a big challenge for any real musician. I´m a hobby-guitarrist.. who just likes flamenco most. Eso es!

btw..onlyt the first 2 vids work for me ..do they all work for all of you ? it says file failed to render ?

i am using a quicktime substitute...not quicktime ( could that be the problem ?)...but the first 2 videos work ( falseta and falseta slow) ..its weird

Ron, was that a cite from Don-King?

For me all videos work,.. with quicktime. Maybe you need a newer version?

wow I was out of town for 2 days and saw all the postings.. nice!

Jason...I have still have the video lessons and man.. you had some crazy stuff on there that made my brain turn upside down LOL! I remember tearing my hair out in my apt in Alameda learning it ..especially at that time cause I was still a newbie but I learned a lot and like I said previously learning hard falsetas really help with your own compositions and technique...just dive into it guys at least we have Jason to help out if we get stuck LOL.

All kidding aside I think this falseta might be a little difficult especially to someone that plays mostly traditional but like in anything if you are motivated you will get it..hopefully I'm motivating even more members to join in! go...go..go

Doit...awesome man I'd like to see some videos soon. BTW, I never said I will be learning this falseta LOL! I'm glad I was able to get others to enter though..looks like Florian is in the mix now..good player and sounds very determined ..uh oh do I see a top contender 12 round heavyweight fight..I can see it now:

Florian vs. Doit ...flamenco-lessons.com challenge

also I'm a boxing fan...Manny Pacquiao especially.

I will second that Anders. It was unfortunate that I couldn't play Ted's Anders negra that he had cause it arrived a day later than our get together. I've been great things about your guitars recently.
