Rob -> Flamenco in Paris? (Jun. 11 2004 16:49:08)

I'll be in Paris 27th to 31st July. Any flamenco shops with books, music, cds, guitars?

Rob

I found a few stores stocked flamenco CDs, especially in the little arcades around. Look for a "seconds" bookshop called Culture in Les Halles. Not underground but where Rue Des Innocents runs into a large square, just off Boulevard De Sébastapol near the right bank. I found some cheap CDs there. They have other branches.

You could also visit Alain Faucher.

I sent an email to info@affedis.com - that email address was just a guess, but it hasn't bounced back to me. I wrote in English hoping that he would understand me, but so far no reply. Does he have a shop, or does he work from his house and does not like unknown guitarists turning up on his doorstep?

I have no idea, perhaps someone else on the forum can cast some light?

Hey Simon, taking a walk down Rue St Dennis by any chance?

Cheers
Jim.

I know someone who went to see him 5 or 6 years ago to get some lessons. I remember being told that he's a nice guy and very helpful, not a great player but full of knowledge and he sold my friend some tabs at a knock down price.

Where he lives? in some dark cave with a huge computer linked to the brains of the greats and below some massive country chataeu (spelling) with a vine yard and he's really a Count and the peasants all fear him and never see him during the day and the village daughters mysteriously dissapear and he's driven around by gypsies in a black coach playing the guitar and some say that he hands out his tabs to the likes of PdL, Tomatito, Vicente Amigo...etc long before the eventually record the music and that's why PdL went quiet for so long because Count Faucher had to go on holiday.

Cheers
Jim

Very funny, Jim. Maybe he'll write a Jim Opfer tab book which you can then learn and record? I wonder how much he charges for that service?

Rob
