I'm thinking he is absolute genius.

What do you think.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Manuel Molina (Jan. 11 2009 9:07:13)

I like him a lot. You need lots of power in order to perform like that. At least you can call him a personality. besides he has good golpes.

Together with Lole, I think its really good. Some of their songs are really great. My favorite bulerias is El rio de mi Sevilla:

In these times of discussing what is and what is not flamenco, they are not considered flamenco, but I dont care. You can feel that they both have a very profound knowledge of flamenco and thus they can make fusion with power. a good example:

I was thinking really just about Manuel sitting there playing and singing.
Unique way of holding his guitar and singing his heart out. Absolutely fantastic.
Just struck me that this is flamenco in it's purest form. Simple playing but everything well placed and appropriate.

i've always known him as part of a duo. this is impressive.

and yes, he does have a unique way of holding his guitar. it sometime looks like he's falling asleep on it.

I´m sorry for having included Lole in this thread. I will stay away.

Great stuff. I have a 'Vistas' video where he does the same thing standing up.
That minimal accompaniment is right on - just the right notes in just the right places.
It's like really good film music - there's hardly any of it.

Is that Florian's suit he's wearing?

Why? I've loved her voice (even though she is "unconventional") since I first heard it back in the 70's. I was just talking about their first record (Nuevo Dia I think?) on another thread. I love that record!

According to Norberto Torres, that 'vertical' position used to be common. He says that Javier Molina liked it, and even (according to Pohren) Paco de Lucia played that way when he was very young.

Ole! His voice is so original, me like it [:D]

Samarto -> RE: Manuel Molina (Jun. 13 2011 1:35:41)

Pure Gitano genius. Plays from pure emotion with no regard to technique or what any one else thinks. This is what the Gitano call duende ... a pureness of heart and emotion like gold and silver.
