Wow, I enjoyed that! I loved it! We don't see enough photos of dancers, both men and women. I wish that we could get dancers posting and uploading here and discussing performances and how they interpret material and everything. That would be very interesting and enjoyable! Ailsa, where are you?

While I love the solo dances, when the opportunity arises to see a man and a woman dancing together that is something special for me. One of the nicest dances I saw recently was this Sevillanas with just one man and woman weaving in and out of each other. It was beautiful.

The beauty of Flamenco to me is that all body types and physiques are accepted and can express. It is like cycling, you can be a willowy climber or a big sprinter, or a rouleur. There is room for all!

Florian:
I would date someone "just because" of one reason. One reason is enough for me to become curious. Of course, after coffees, or drinks, or whatever... it may not be enough for me to see her all the way to her door. I may just stand at the end of her walkway to make sure she gets in safely... and never call again.

But, as I have terribly few real life friends who like flamenco, I think that looking within a pool of flamenco aficionados (or more) might be wise.

I'll leave off the questions. Just tell her to study hard because there's a man in Canada eager to become a fan. [:)]

I think you may be a victim of a self-confirming stereotype. Don't forget that there are specific aesthetics attached to various art forms. For ballerinas, just like models and actresses, the people they audition for expect a certain body type and if you got a shape that's too wrong, no vale un pito] how much talent you gots.
So all the dancers famous enough to come to the average person's attention have passed through a selection process.

I'm also sure that certain genetically predisposed body types do help when combined with talent. Like in sports, who's the shortest guy in the NBA?

flamenco is such an eazy thing to photograph...the costumes, the colours the action its all there..all have to do is press the buton at the right time...

I think anyone with a good camera can take great photos of flamenco..

this photos were taken by a friend of mine...not a professional...had an average camera..but i prefer the moments he captured better..then the profesional photographers .(the originals are perfectly clear...but myspace reduces clarity and size I think...expecially when vibrant colours are involved)

Doesnt the blonde look like Scarlett Johanson, the young hollywood actor?
I actually think dancers (not only flamenco) have the best body shapes. They are trained, but compared to women that only do sports, that have an elegance in their movements. But i have to be careful.. there is a fine line between admiring the beauty and charisma of a woman, and between coming off as just "horny", which is probably the biggest disadvantage males have in their nature. [:D]

I used to want to agree with that statement. But I've seen a lot of dancers who were kind of gawky or clumsy off the dance floor.

The only reality show I enjoy watching is one called "So you think you can dance" and I particularly love the auditions where a girl does some stunningly graceful and disciplined little bit of dance for her audition and and is told she's getting plane tickets to skip ahead to the final stages of auditioning. They invariably jump up and down or react in some way that makes them look like a spazz.

Luckily, I find the dichotomy even more charming that the myth of the well-disciplined and constantly graceful body.

But those are just my observations...

Well.. I faked you all when I said, I only like the music. I also like watching dance and playing for it. I was looking for some nice videos to become better in playing for dance. And somehow her video occurred.

Women I've liked over the years:
Barbara Carrera (007: Never Say Never Again)
Keira Knightly
Summer Glau
Embeth Davidtz
Monica Bellucci

Wouldn't want to mix and match, seems Nature does a much better job designing than I do.

As for graceful dancers being spazzes off the dance floor, I think it's just the complete oppositeness that fascinates me. Discipline and gravity that only exist in one context of their lifestyles.

Unlike me. On track. Or maybe it's a rut. [8|]
