rombsix -> Video size ... (Dec. 20 2008 16:17:02)

Hola amigos! I just purchased a Toshiba laptop with a built in webcam and microphone. I've just started figuring out how to use it (considering it has Vista installed which is new to me) and played around with the webcam today. Turns out it allows recording videos with audio, so I thought to myself, "alas, I can start uploading VIDEOS, rather than audios, of me playing, onto the foro." However, I was mistaken as when I recorded a video of about 10 seconds duration, I was surprised that its size turned out about 220 MB!!! Obviously, with my slow connection (that allows up to 25 or 30 kilobytes per second upload speed, if not slower), that would take AGES to upload, and would probably die off somewhere along the process. So the question is:

How do you guys (ToddK, Henrik, Ron, etc.) record videos of acceptable quality keeping their size reasonable? I even tried recording at 320x240 and smaller sizes, and the video size was still HUGE!

Please advise, y muchas gracias!

[:D]

Hi Ramzi.
I just use Windows Moviemaker.
The "raw" video size is very big, but when you "finalize" it into a .wmv file it's very much smaller.
It's like converting a .wav file to .mp3 or a .bmp file to .jpg

Just play around with it for a bit.

cheers,

Ron
