Saw him last night in SF in a room with maybe forty people. Truly an amazing player. The strength, speed, and endurance of his picado is really exceptional. But he really displayed that power in all the techniques. Had front row seats and it was better than if he played in my living room cause he had good sound. A bit of reverb ala Vicente. Technically probably the best player out there. The things he plays flawlessly are incredibly difficult. He also has a sensitivity and musicality that exceed that of many other great players. He played a few new tunes, and some of his older stuff. Had a good crew with him on cajon, baile and cante for parts of the program. Also had a second guitarist for a few tunes. Brought out a few locals for the fin de fiesta. Hard to imagine anyone alive playing the guitar better than him. Of course we all have our own taste re flamenco, but as a straight up ripper on flamenco guitar, he has few rivals, if any. quote:
