I've bought the mentioned DVD, but there is no score with it
Is a score of the pieces available, or are you supposed to

1 learn them from the DVD or

2 substitute your own pieces to play along to accompany the dancer?

I'd have thought it would have been easier to play the actual music on the dvd otherwise you'd have to ensure you had the right number and order of compas and falsetas, not to mention the same key if you want to play along with it with the sound on. Or do you turn the sound off? I'd have thought you'd want to hear the dancer's feet, or am I wrong, should it just be visual?

As you can see I'm a bit confused!

Or am I missing the point of the DVD, are you supposed to get a feel of how accompanying is done rather than playing along?

As I'm sure you can tell from this post I'm a beginner!

Many thanks,

Steve.

From a different angle - I'm always happy to try recording a bit of footwork for you to practise to. I'm sure Ailsa be would too.

Probably you are supposed to "do what he does" WHEN you get with a dancer on your own. I say, just watch it, then go to a dance class. Watch some other dances on youtube too to get an idea, but really tabs won't help. It is more about musical structure and rhythm than fingering notes. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the replies. Serrano says the easiest one to accompany is the sevilianas, the first one on the DVD. Could anyone point me in the direction of a relatively easy to play one available in standard notation- I don't mind if it's very basic.

Val, many thanks for the offer, I'd like to take you up on that, but I think I need to learn to play something first!

Best wishes,

Steve.
