Pimientito -> Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Dec. 9 2008 11:53:15)

I've been getting my fingers round some falsetas for buleria in the Rondeña tuning.
(Thats normal tuning with Sixth in D and third in F#)
These are by Gerardo Nuñez. This first one is from Jucal (more to come)

I forgot to mention.... Download the file to your desktop and then change the extension from .pdf to .jpg
(click on link, go to "save as" , then change extension)

Thx!

Ricardo -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Dec. 12 2008 10:36:57)

Cool thanks, I love that part. Just to let some folks know, there is an American version of Jucal, and this tune, Hacia Mi, is NOT on it. [&:]

Thats funny.. This week I heared exactly this buleria 30 times... ^^ Its at first libre, than somehow verdiales, tangos and in the end buleria.... I think he has so many ideas but didnt want to do 3 pieces in the ame tuning... so he combined them into one big composition.
Great, thank you very much Jason!

Not Tangos, Solea Por bulerias. But yeah, it is a great medley of styles. On the american version of the album they replaced that track with 3 other pieces from YERMA. The Rondeña is just the libre guitar solo part.

Anyway, his name is not jason.[:D]

?????[:D][:D][:D]

I forgot about the 2 versions of "Jucal". I have both but I though the U.S. version still had this track on it. Its a great track with a free Rondeña going to solea por Buleria to a finale in Buleria.

Ricardo, this falseta is also played over the top of the rumba in the album "cruz de caminos". How does he make this Buleria falseta fit rumba?

Umm, he can do whatever he wants. Dont' you remember how he composed a Solea por bulerias on the spot, and also plays guajiras as a colombianas? And his tangos that is really a bulerias in disguise, and not to meantion the solea falseta stuck in the middle?[:D][:D] so that little bulerias falseta por rumba was really no biggie.

Yeah...it took me a half hour to be able to close my Jaw again!!! [:D]

Here Is Falseta 2

This is from Flamencos en Nueva York and even by Gerados standard it can be considered ADVANCED. There is a lot of jumping around with the left hand and some tough ligado parts.
This was taught to us by Gerardo so its pretty acurate (although he does vary the compas parts every time) I've added as much fingering as i can.
Line 4 is very tough. You have to go from chord in second position and then do a "hammer on from nowhere" on the 8th fret. At the end of that chord keep your 2cd finger on the 6th fret for the rest of passage. The other fingers work around it. . The last ligado part is fiddly. Like everything, start practicing it really slowly.

(again, download to desktop and change extension to.jpg)

Pimientito -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Dec. 15 2008 4:58:01)

Here is falseta 3

This is the Pizzicato intro to "En el Arco"(which is on the encuentro DVD) followed by the first falseta. In stark contrast to the last one I posted this is very straight forward and easy to play. Its harmonised on the recording but I have not tabbed the second guitar part.

Pimientito -> [Deleted] (Dec. 16 2008 9:14:52)

Post has been moved to the Recycle Bin at Jan. 6 2009 3:09:48

Pimientito -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Jan. 5 2009 11:45:26)

Thanks to Conrad for sending me a video of him playing this. I am going to re- write falseta 4. The notes are correct but the fingering is wrong.

Here is falseta 5

Again this is from Hacia mi on "Jucal". This is very fiddly and took me a while to work out the right hand combination. Its a 3 finger pattern on the right hand. Follow it exactly as written.

I think the first 2 triplets are correct when played at tempo. I have included an alternative which sounds better at slower speed.

This falseta starts with Gerardos wrist watch beeping in the middle of the recording. I never noticed it before but its a lesson to take your watch off in the studio!

Pimientito -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Jan. 6 2009 3:16:33)

Here is Falseta 4

I deleted the original post. This is a much better tab. This is the first falseta from Hacia mi at the change between the solea por buleria to buleria. It sounds great and is straight forward arpeggio and picado (I haven't fingered the tab)
He plays it 2 ways. On the record it seems to be a F#min chord. However live its a 2/3 barre at fret 2 during the whole phrase. Both sound good and I have fingered both on the tab.
My only doubt is the chord on line 6 which i have fingered

---7--
---7--
---5--
-------
---6--
-------

It sounds Ok to play that way but I'm not sure he is doing that on the recording. If anyone can correct it i would be very happy.
Marcos

If anyone is downloading these I would appreciate some feedback please[:)]

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Jan. 6 2009 3:25:45)

my feedback is a big thank you, i love anything by gerardo, especially his stuff in weird tunings, you're accurate and i spend much time of my practice with your tabs, your efforts are very much appreciated!

Pimientito -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Jan. 6 2009 6:05:05)

Thanks a lot. I'm glad they are useful. Some of them have been taught directly so those ones are 100 percent accurate. Some of the others are just because I'm used to his technique now. There may be the odd wrong finger here and there but its pretty close. Don't forget Gerardo plays them slightly differently each time anyway.

Ok, Here is Falseta 6

This was one he taught us. There are a lot of hammer-ons with the little finger. Its nearly all played with thumb apart from the final "candeza" which is a series of double arpeggios. Its slightly easier to play than it sounds (for once)

Great! This time right. Thank you Pimientio!![:)] I was reading across some different threads at the same time in past... and confused it in the end. But the thank you was adressed to you!

Pimientito -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Feb. 8 2009 5:36:14)

I had a spare morning to do some more transcribing

Here is Falseta 4 part 2

Its continues straight on from the end of falseta 4 and also is the outro to the Track "Hacia mi". Its not very long or particularly difficult but was surprisingly fiddly to work out what he was doing. There is a nice ascending bass line that harmonises with the descending ligado passage.

Thats all the Falsetas in "Hacia mi" done now. I will try to finish "En el Arco" to complete the set.

at_leo_87 -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Feb. 10 2009 0:19:20)

wow, did you do these by ear?

Pimientito -> RE: Gerardo Buleria/Rondeña falsetas (Feb. 10 2009 8:01:29)

Falsetas 1, 2 and 6 were ones that he taught the advanced students. The rest of them I worked out by ear.
