Taranto -> maderas barber (Nov. 21 2008 0:50:33)

Hi,

Has anyone done business with maderasbarber.com?

Their prices are good but their website is a bit amateurish, the whole website is flash.
Also I sent them an email asking a question that they never replied.

Thanks, Taranto

I have. They are a good company. It is hard to reach them by email sometimes so I usually call.

They have good wood but they are VERY amateurish

I have an order there right now, but they cant give me a shipping quote, so I might cancel the order.

Did you manage to get a quote?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: maderas barber (Dec. 1 2008 8:02:02)

Yes, I got it last friday, it only took them 10 working days. The wood should be here soon.
I will tell you what I think about the wood when I got it. I have bought from them before. Once in their warehouse and a couple of times from a truck, when they go to Granada.

An update.

I will strongly advice not to use this supplier. I´m not going to bore you with details, but this has been really bad. The wood was more or less ok, but the treatment. WOW... I had to send a piece of Palo escrito back to them because it was very poor quality and it was very thin (2,5mm) They told me that it wasnt a piece of wood from their warehouse and that I had send them a piece of wood that I had from another supplier. I dont even have other pieces of Palo Escrito.

Besides that they are tremendously slow, forget things, you have to mail or call MANY times.

Maderas Barber is a place to go and buy directly. Forget about ordering.

I'm sorry you've had such bad luck with M-B Anders. I've bought from them many times and have always been completely satisfied with their service and product. Maybe the US representative has enough clout to move things more rapidly.

Hola

I tend to agree with Anders. Rafael stopped buying wood from Barber for their poor customer service. Madinter is the other major Spanish supplier and they seem to have a better service.

Madinter has a lot better costumer service, but Maderas Barber has more wood to choose from.

The story sucks.
They send me a piece of Palo Escrito of a very poor quality. 1 cm wide grain in the center and 2,5mm thick at the side where you join.

I tell them I would like to return the wood and the answer is that it was their best piece, sanded on both sides and ready to join. I take photos of the wood showing that it has not been sanded at all and that its to thin.
The answer is that it was sanded on one side......
I send the wood back, and because I dont hear from them in almost 4 weeks, I send a mail that I would like to know what happens

The answer is really far out: That I´m a cheater, that the wood I have send them is not from them and that they send me a piece which was sanded on both sides ready to join.

I´m off, of course. I´m not going to do anything about the case, because its bad energy. I´m just telling you guys to be carefull with this company.

I had an order there waiting for a quote since 12th december 2008. So yesterday I canceled it and went with madinter.

Taranto,
In fairness to M-B this is a terrible time of year to order from anyone. There are the Christmas and New Year holidays followed by the NAMM show and at the same time inventories for taxes. Not surprising they might be backed up a bit.

You are right John, but madinter handles these things a lot faster.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: maderas barber (Jan. 13 2009 8:53:13)

In my opinion, time is not the problem. I dont buy wood to use tomorrow.

The problem is the lousy service and in my case an enormous lack of respect towards a costumer.
What is it worth that you can send a pice of wood back if you are being accused of sending back wood bought from other suppliers. Thats totally bad energy. Buying wood online is a matter of confidence and Maderas Barber shoved me the contrary.

You did well in ordering from Madinter. I have bought wood there many times and always been happy with it.
