Hi fellow flamenco's,
My instructor was given a Antonio Aparicio Flamenco from a former student who no longer plays and wants him to donate it to our local conservatory. I had an an opportunity to play this instrument and I couldn't believe first off that someone would just give it up and secondly that it retails for around $5,000. It was a decent instrument and no offense to anyone who may own one but I felt that at 5k there are probably better choices or perhaps this instrument was just a bad example. Does anyone know about this builder, hand made or assembled??

p.s. I offered him 1k for it anyway :)

A Aparicio is a small Valencia factory. And 5k I wouldn´t pay even though its a top model

Hi Anders,
Thanks for the reply and while i'm no expert, I just couldn't believe this model was retailing for 5k. I did some checking and found it going for around 4K but from my impressions that would still be way too high. I just checked out your clip on Youtube where you are playing your Blanca and wow, I was really impressed!! I loved the dry raspy old school sound of that pegged beauty!! Now if we could only get the usd/euro exchange rate down a bit more I'd considering placing my order!! Thanks again for the reply...

Hey Sig

The exchange rate has gone down a lot. Where it is now its where it was before the financial crisis. 1,25 - 1,30$ for a Euro. It was stable for around 3 years at that level.
Maybe it´ll go down a little bit more, but I´m not to sure. It would be good for me.

I would never buy an AA guitar... I just dont like their sound

Anders,
Thanks for the reply and I didn't realize the exchange rate was that low. I am planning a trip to Germany next spring around early May; we have a German exchange student living with us and her parents invited us for a visit. I haven't been to Europe yet and I am really looking forward to the trip so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the exchange rate will remain favorable. I wish I had the time to make a side trip to Spain to visit some luthier's and a few Flamenco Tablao's!!
