What a fantastic experience that must have been. Any recording of Gerardo accompanying Guitarbuddha?

After reading this, if he comes to the US We will know it is one show we cannot miss. Lovely.

One question for those who had a chance to spend time with him, does Gerardo ever use a Cejilla, and as he really doesn't, how does his guitar sound face to face without the tightening of the basses? (that is really 2 Q.)

Years ago, when his class in Sanlucar was smaller, he used to teach without a microphone. His guitar sounded very BIG when he played solo, and the bass notes were surprisingly sustaining despite being tuned way down. His Conde at the time was 95 blanca, and I played it, it had a pretty high action over the fingerboard, which I think allowed him to play pretty hard and project a lot of sound (the strings were tight). That guitar was for sure not the LOUDEST guitar I have every played, but it had a wide range because it could be played hard. He demoed a negra in class which did not have the same balance over the whole range. Can't remember the make, but I understood then why he liked blancas better.

As the class got bigger, when everyone played at the same time, it got hard to hear him in the big cathedral. He uses a mic now, so of course he gets a huge sound. In the advanced class he typically does NOT use a cejilla. The intermediate class where he teaches lots of traditional things, he usually uses the capo at 3. Listen to his album with INDIO GITANO to hear him play some familiar music, but all have the cejilla because of the singers pitch.

Your avatar betrays a degree of affection towards the subject, whom I understand you know well. Thank you for sharing your expereience with Don Nunez. Spectacular musician, from the CD I have and what I get to see on you tube.

There were a few of his "lessons" available on youtube and other engines, until a few days ago, but have been removed, on a copyright infringement claim (people should remember what copyright means.... right to make copies.... )
Given your knowledge of this musician, do you have any idea which method or DVD such classes had been taking from, and where it maybe available?
