I don't know how many of you have heard of this guy. I learned of him when I downloaded what I suppose is an anthology of the tracks included with Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine.

I googled him and found youtube clips, his home page &c and he's kind of interesting. He arranges some pretty complicated pieces for classical guitar. He's a pretty damn good player too, I think there's an argument out there that if he used the time he devoted to arranging for practice he could be a virtuoso.

I'll admit, some of the arrangements aren't perfect, simply because arranging a piece like O Fortuna for solo classical guitar is pretty monumental a task. It may be that a tune like O Fortuna would be better served by a trio, but that's not the point of the exercise.

He's also got a book/video out "arranging for solo guitar" which I think I'll be putting on my wishlist among my shopping bookmarks.

Anyone heard of him and have comments? Anyone seen his book? Or followed my links today and have responses?

Just for fun, here's a track list of tunes he's arranged/recorded for solo classical on just one album/cd:
The A.R.T. of Edgar Cruz
1 O Fortuna
2 A Day in the Life
3 Nights in White Satin
4 Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
5 Oye Como Va
6 Going to California
7 Dream On
8 Live and Let Die
9 Funeral for a Friend - Love Lies Bleeding
10 Dust in the Wind
11 We are the Champions
12 Pride and Joy

Heard of him? Yup! He played at my wedding. Awesome guitarist, and a really nice guy. He's based out of Oklahoma City where he stays busy playing live shows throughout the year. He was actually my first inspiration to start playing finger style. I heard his version of Bohemian Rhapsody about '97, and I was sold. Haven't picked up a pick since.

I would love to study with this guy. I wish he would put together a book/CD on arranging things for classical guitar. Ooops , just re-read the original message..

How does one get one of these? I don't see it on his web-page.

I am curious though about how he managed to settle all the copyright issues in regards to his arrangements. Does he have to pay royalties on everything he sells, and even on money he receives for public performances?

Anyway, great guitarist/arranger.

He does have a video on the page where he hawks his LPs about arranging for solo guitar.

As for royalties, yeah, I'm sure he pays royalties to the original authors (not always who you'd think they would be though) for sales. I don't know about performance rights.
