Hi,

I'm oldal and haven't played any flamenco for 40 years. I'm retired and home now and just purchased a Yamaha CG171SF and am trying to relearn some of what I new (which was very little) and hopefully get a bit further than when I was younger. I'm sure I'll learn something from all of you.

Welcome to the forum.

Usually people ask about which starter guitar to buy but you already figured it out. Congratulations on your recent purchase.

Welcome back!

I look forward to your perspective on Flamenco and what got you interested in the first place some 40 years ago.

I grew up in New York City and was involved a lot with folk music in those years as a hobby, and got interested in classical guitar. There was a musical instrument district in the city at that time and I purchased a classical guitar from, and made by Juan Orozco who was partnered with a man named Tony Montoya??(no relation to Carlos) who was trying to bring flameno players to the U.S. from Spain. He had some very elementary flamenco instruction books which I went through and learned and of course have long since forgotten. I also heard Anita Sheer in concert in the US and was fascinated with the music. I know Orozco went on to import guitars from the far east and stopped making guitars himself. He has retired and I believe is living in Puerto Rico. The guitar that I bought from him is now owned by my grandaughter who loves music and is learning how to play. I had made a golpeador for it and it still is on the guitar which had a beautiful sound. So here I am with a lot of time on my hands and a desire to learn.
